The flower handles silverware reminds me so much of an American tradition. Specifically a Maryland tradition. The Baltimore Rose Pattern by Steiff silver is one of the most coveted American silverware patterns, and a proper set can put you back about 20k. My grandfather of a long lineage of Baltimore merchants had some handed down to him from his mother who was given it from a long line of ancestors. It was subsequently added onto by my grandmother who was German and lived in Louisiana. There is now a set of 18 settings and it is the crystal of any dinner it is served at. I believe Edward and and Wallace has a set that was photographed in their home for a magazine and sent the pattern into infamy. The fun of using it is not knowing whether you’ll get a knife from 1830 or from 1960. The pattern is out of reproduction now but it gave me butterflies when I saw you unwrap it. EDIT: I GOT FULL CHILLS WHEN SHE READ OFF STEIFF! She doesn’t even know she is holding an American treasure. The pattern is again called Baltimore Rose. As in the city in Maryland. Please like this so Stephanie can see it!!! I’d love for her to get to hear how special it is to me

I am so happy to see someone gifted you something that originated in my hometown of Baltimore, Maryland USA. The Steiff Maryland Rose silver pattern is the most famous pattern made by Stieff and introduced in 1892. This particular silver was gifted to each of my family members upon their marriages. I now have my mother's entire service for 12 with serving pieces as my younger sister has my grandmother's. During the 1980's my young husband was working road construction adjacent to the Steiff Company factory for a couple of years. Once a month he would go into the factory store and purchase a small silver item such as a teaspoon or butter knife to add to our silver service for me. Follow what Isabell says and don't put the hollow-handled pieces (usually knives) in the dishwasher. We use our silver place settings every day. It certainly can dress up a table setting for chicken potpie.

I’ve got to say that I really think I prefer this style better. I would love to see all of them like this. It seemed (to me) that there was SO much less time spent watching the opening of the packages and WAY more emphasis on the gift itself. So much so I’ve ordered the rose book and herb encyclopedia for my husband for Christmas. Love to all and please keep it up! Perhaps the proceeds from the November videos could benefit a needy family in December?

My godmother has a house by the sea with a flagpole in the yard, and they have always had a chest full of flags. Flags from everywhere, different countries, regions, organizations, etc. Every few days a new flag goes up. "Where are we today? Hmmm...Portugal. Lovely." Anyway, I think Lalande is just the place for a chest full of flags that can be flown whenever to suit one's fancy.

What a stunningly beautiful and thoughtful gift. ☺ Your Grandmother was formidable indeed ❤ I also have to add that I too was a tree climber when I was a kidd (still am at age 53!) but my Mummy would stand at the base of the tree and say "well if you fall out and break your neck, don't come crying to me!" 😂 I think my Mummy and your Mummy would have got on well, and my Mum would thoroughly enjoy your videos, if she were still alive.

To use up those end of season tomatoes Isobel, there is a great sauce I was introduced to last year, add the tomatoes, some olive oil, basil, garlic, any other herbs you’d like, salt, pepper, any other veggies you have left and roast them all in a slow oven until they just melt together. When cooled somewhat you can just put some at a time into a food processor to purée it, bottle it up or put in freezer bags and pop into the freezer for cold old winter days to make bruschetta, pizza, any pasta dish, chilli, whatever needs a wonderful tomato sauce that remind of the garden in summer. It’s so yummy, all the flavours mix together into ambrosia. Beautiful gifts, you’re so lucky to have such amazing followers who are sending gifts with love. 🙋🏼
