It was so meaningful to see my Grandmeres tea set at the chateau, it was very hard to send it but I know that is where it belongs. My sweet little Grandma would be so happy to have it in France. I was afraid that it would be “lost” and forgotten if I did not take care of it, now I know it will be taken care of, my heart is at peace❤️ Thank you Stephanie ❣️

When Stephanie was reading the letter from Georgette I had an immediate tingle down my spine. Then the tears welled up in my eyes. The part that got me was your grandmother at such a tender age being caught up in the tragedy of losing her parents and then being connected to the Titanic saga. I teach high school students and 12 is so young to have travelled so far and all on her own. What a spirit she must have had. You are truly blessed to have had such an inspiring grandmother. It is clear to all of us from the comments that you have been blessed with this same spirit as you gave away such a precious piece of your family history to have it returned to her birthplace. I am sure your grandmother would be so proud of her two granddaughters. Well wishes and blessings to you both from the other side of the world.

Stephanie, if you should 'happen to see this'' just wanted to tell you something which may make you have a giggle for the day. I had my laundry going and was in Living Room a couple rooms from the laundry area, and was watching this video. I was chuckling evidently out loud and then with the story at the end, of course, some tears came too, but it was so touching as we all know. But when I went to get my laundry as wondered why it never went off while I was watching the video, I asked my husband, "if the laundry had gone off?" ( as he had taken everything out of the dryer and folded them and put them away!) He said: ' You were laughing and having so much fun in there on the computer, I did not want to interrupt you with anything, so just did it myself!" I thought that was so funny! So had to share it with him and how much I enjoy all of your series and it takes me away from all the ills of life and gives me such fun to be part of the life you all are enjoying in France. You have all become like family to me. My husband now has heard much about you all, and the programs you have and am sure he realizes what a big part of my life you all have been filling and are in my heart anyway, giving me so much not offered around me. A life I would have loved to be part of had I that chance when younger. I know it is real life you are living and not acting, and that makes it even nicer! But guess maybe we all act every day, and do not even know? As Shakespeare said how " All of the world is a stage"

No, no acting, but we must be a little bit aware, that what we see is still an edited reality. What I mean is that, when editing, one will always emphasize the interesting, fun and touching moments during the day/week. And so, even though what we se is reality, the result is still the best, most interesting 20 minutes out of perhaps 2 hours of filming. I hope that makes sense 🙂
@carolweaver32693 жыл бұрын
@@bigboy77dk Yes it does. We know true life never runs smoothly. There are bumps in the road. Not each day can be perfect. Thank you for your explanation of the reality of life within the vision of fun and excitement behind each video made.
@chrismaraccini81083 жыл бұрын
@@bigboy77dk Of course I agree, but what is reality? Is it a show that most people love in a time when the whole world seems to be going crazy? A show that makes them feel so good that they make others happy? I think the true character of a person comes out no matter how much editing is done, you see bits here and there.

Yet again you have made me laugh, cry, and smile. The tea set at the end and the moving story that goes with it moved me to tears right along with all of you. The fact that people know that when they send you all parts of their own history and family that it will be treasured and the history will continue. The garden apron was ingenious in its design and looks amazing on Mummy. I also thought that the hand painted scarf with the poppies on it is a well timed gift to receive right before Nov. 11th for Remembrance Day. So many traditions have been cut back due to Covid but Mummy will be able to wear her poppy scarf in remembrance of the brave men and women who fought for us all. Much love to everyone at La Lande from little old me here in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Just a brief add on to the story about the Titanic. We here, in Halifax, received a lot of the bodies of those who died on the Titanic and have a Maritime Museum of the Atlantic where there is a full display of the historic items from the Titanic.

I learnt afterwards that there were two ice skating rinks with lovely dances on them. But did not even know they were there. Bonjour Stephanie et tout le monde à La Lande. This gifts opening was really nice, Selmar is now so happy with the coffee ; again, he was touched because of the nice T-shirt. Of course everything else were nice gifts. The Grande Finale was the Tea set, hand painted by the french lady that lived in the U.S., I had tears in my eyes when you read the note. Her work in painting this set was/is absolutely amazing and gorgeous. The blend of those colors is so perfect. I sure hope you will find a great place to display those pieces (the cloche) is a great idea ; therefore, everyone will be able to enjoy the beauty of this set without touching it and risking of breaking. Thank you again for a wonderful moment. P.s. : love the Tea Set that you used in this vlog : beautiful. A bientôt. oxox

Stephanie, I hated that you left those bright, wonderful yellow chargers. I hope when you go back they are still there. That and the ornate cabinet that Cat picked out.

Such lovely ornaments. Colonial Williamsburg is indeed a fascinating place to visit. Their catalog is online. I teared up at Georgette's gifts, too. Such a wonderful history. So fitting for them to have a new home in grandmother Georgette's country of birth. They remind me of the "tea" plates I was given by a family friend. She painted them as a young woman in the thirties.

Thank you LaLande family for this joy. I am watching this episode the night before our US election and the stress and dread is so real. I am happy that I can watch you all share gift opening, laughter, love, and joy. I love the generosity of all who are part of this family. Thank you both at LaLande and those watching and sending gifts. You all are a gift to me always but especially tonight on the eve of choosing our future. One Love.

Been to Williamsburg many times when I lived in Pennsylvania and Virginia. Christmas was the best there as they had street bonfires, candles lit in all the windows, fresh pine and fir decorations filled the air while we sipped hot chocolate or cider. Of course the period costumed strollers/carolers made for an enchanted scene on the snow covered streets. Truly a step back in time.
