Dude you got it spot on. IDM was an eye opener for musicians on the amount of possibilities available within electronic music! Now, there is so MUCH music being released and so many different micro-genres that the essence of what Aphex was doing in the 90s is just intrinsically involved with all of it. If someone is inspired by Aphex, they are simply inspired by the fundamentals of creative electronic production :p

Ey i post. I put stuff out cuz no one else will anymore in this style. Its too abrasive for the masses so i just make it for myself. I enjoy my own music.

I always disliked the name IDM, they should have called it something like “Thorp” or “Glibber”

First of all, IDM was never a popular term, the artists of the 90s were just doing music they liked they never considered themselves part of any scene, secondly the genre hasnt really gone anywhere, there is an amazing label right now called Ilian Tape that is making amazing IDM and pushing it in new directions. My point is a genre that isnt really a genre cant really rise or fall.

given i take a lot of influences from IDM, would love to experience a large resurgence for this, even if it is to get some of my friend's IDM tunes heard
