It is my first time being here. I would like to suggest Liliac- Holy Diver (Dio) or Master of Puppets (Metallica). You won't be disappointed, I looked at your song selection and it's right up your alley. Oh yeah and I Subscribed because I liked this reaction to the 1st band I ever was a fan of, the amazingly spectacular Disturbed.

There is this band called Tool. Pretty obscure but a really secretive fan base has been created. They only cater to people that like music. They use instruments and actually play them! And the singer sings without auto tune! Black eye peas you wanna step up? Fergi is Trash

I don't care what Simon says. I grew up in the 60s and 70s and this song was played a ton. And I always hated it. Bored the crap out of me. I'm the type of music listener that first has to be grabbed by the sound first. I typically don't even try to learn lyrics unless I like the song. I heard about this cover the other day, I couldn't remember what song it was so I listened to the original. As soon as it started I remembered it, but about a minute into it I remembered why I hated it and quit listening. I like Disturbed, but haven't grabbed anything of their's lately. I couldn't imagine them singing this song, but I listened to it. Holy crap I love this song now. I keep listening to these reaction shows listening to it, just to watch people's reactions to it. So far all of them have been just like mine, goosebumps, several even tears. This song went from wimpy, to powerful and badass.

To sum up the meaning of this song, I think Albert Einstein said it best. "The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." Whether it's politics, religion, or any number of social issues, when injustices are not addressed they are allowed to grow like a cancer due to our apathy and silence.

“Evil isn’t the real threat to the world. Stupid is just as destructive as Evil, maybe more so, and it’s a hell of a lot more common. What we really need is a crusade against Stupid. That might actually make a difference.” ― Jim Butcher, Vignette

@Red of the Man First off, there's no 'evil'. Evil is a concoction of man. Further, 3/4 of humanity doesn't even have the brains to notice what's going on in the world. They follow people like Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin or Trump, because they say whatever their followers want to hear. The most dangerous people are those that are stupid, but think they're smart.

@Red of the Man Trump is just as much a "great leader" type of man as the others I mentioned. That he hasn't done as much damage (yet) as he planned to, doesn't change that. Evil is in the eye of the beholder. The Taliban believe that what they're doing is good. Their God's will. Just as much as you *believe* Trump is good and I believe he's rotten to the core. There is no absolute good or evil. They're all opinions based on upbringing. If you had been born over there, you would have been Taliban.

@Red of the Man Trump isn't a racist. He's an opportunist. He'll say or do anything that makes a buck. He'll, cheat, beg, kill, lie, blackmail or commit treason just as easy as we wipe our noses. And I sincerely hope you never have to find out the hard way.

If I'm correct the meaning of this song is about people not actually talking to each other and actually hearing each other and being divided and instead of being united this was a I believe a protest song during the 60s that was a warning to how the world was being divided and separated without anyone noticing and this is them screaming at you telling you you better pay attention before the world implodes like what's happening in the world today with all this bull crap

David Draiman is remarkable and personally I have never heard a better rendition of this song. But one of the things about this cover that is so often overlooked is the background video to vocal and the accompanying music! It is a brilliant interpretation. And in my opinion if you pay attention it actually expresses a message of hope and is NOT depressing. Look at the final image in the video. They are about to start meaningful communication.

David Draiman has an amazing voice. Seeing this live was incredible! Metal musicians and vocalists are under rated and more talented than they are given credit for. I was going to suggest you react to the song "Daddy", by Korn, but I will warn you, it is very deep and dark and devastating. It is a song that speaks to me by giving my pain words. Many people can't get through it all. It doesn't end where expected. It ends in real tears and an emotional breakdown. Should everyone try to hear it once? Yes. Will most people that do be changed? Many will, but most will just be upset.

I absolutely love the use of the sound of silence itself at the very beginning and at the end " between the words ' sounnnnnnnd _____________of silence' ". Really works for the official video as it has the benefit of silent video unlike the live version. Every time I have heard this I cry but I listen to it every night, its just too brilliant of a piece of music to go without and enjoy. What really gets you I feel is his voice and the power and control and emotion in it. The sign of a brilliant song is one that will play with your emotions and if it can give you the chills and make you want to cry well then he's successfully done his job.

The "something" in this version of a 50y.o. song is that, despite the hopes and aspirations of the 60's, NOTHING has changed. What you are hearing is ANGER. We are listening to each other even less. Social Media gives an illusion of communication without any real human meaning. Heavy Metal sees this. It's a pity that the content of most current "angry" people's commentary is lost to many of us. Draiman's enunciation is a welcome relief to this 80 y.o!

As far as the meaning of the song, was about the Vietnam War in the 60’s when Simon & Garfunkel first recorded it. Sound of silence, late at night when trying to sleep. Neon lights in sky, bombs still going off.No one talking, because most people were against the war & either fought about it or shut up about it. Words on the tenants halls or subway walls, hippies protesting against the war. When soldiers came home they were spit on them or demean them in some way. No thank you’s or parades for them, because people didn’t realize most of them didn’t want to be there, they were drafted in. Believe me, I know, my husband came home from that war (a Marine), he took such abuse from that, he shot himself. Luckily he didn’t die so he got to explain that since he had come face to face with opposite soldiers & it’s kill or be killed, he wanted to shoot himself to know what it felt like. With help it took many, many years for him to control it better. He died recently & I stuck with him thru it all, tried to help along the way. Never regretted one moment because I was in love. By the way, I’m in my 70’s.

It became my fav cover. To me the original was a call for people to communicate, to be understanding, and not be silent because bad things happen when we don't speak up. (Around Vietnam War time) This version has an angrier, sadness that people did not listen; that we seem more disconnected with each other, and ignore things that we need to address before it gets even worse. Sung amazingly well and full of emotion - makes me tear up every time.

This song has so many different meanings... When schools, especially public schools from kindergarten through high school, run out of funding, the first programs they cut ✂️ are the art's, music, theater, etc. Also, ISOLATION, DIVISION, LONELINESS, NOT COMMUNICATING, NOT STANDING UP FOR OUR RIGHTS OR EXPRESSING OURSELVES AND WHAT WE BELIEVE IN. We no longer interact face to face with each other, but through technology, social media on our cell phones and computers. I could go on and on. 😢

These two bearded guys's reaction on KZbin a comment said that the disturbed version is the sorrow the pain the loss the tragedy and suffering that happened to those affected by the wars thar could've been prevented or ward that happened. That they was too late. The original was before the wars started and was a cry out to help stop them from happening. I love the theory and I believe it represents both songs so well. I love this song and seeing y two react makes me so happy. Im a new subscriber lol I found u both recently so I'm delighted to see u both progress in life happy and healthy 💓

The Sound of Silence is a song released in 1965 that became a smash hit worldwide, making it to the top 10 list in the U.S., the UK, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, and Japan. In 2012, the song was added to the National Recording Registry in the Library of Congress for being culturally important. Created by Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon, the song has an interesting story behind it - one that concerns Art Garfunkel and his close friend Sanford Greenberg. The friendship According to Greenberg, the song was a tribute to his strong bond with Garfunkel and the latter’s sacrifice, which ended up providing comfort to Greenberg when he lost his sight. Greenberg and Garfunkel met in their first week at Columbia University. It was Garfunkel who initiated the contact, coming over to say “Hi.” Soon, the two became roommates and found that they shared a common interest in music and poetry. The two young men made a pact to always be there for each other when faced with trouble. Just months later, Greenberg lost his sight. He was watching a baseball game when he experienced his vision becoming cloudy. Soon, he could only see darkness. Though the doctors diagnosed that he was suffering from conjunctivitis and the blindness would soon pass, it did not. It was later found that glaucoma had destroyed Greenberg’s optic nerves. Since Greenberg came from a simple home, his family did not have the money to help him out. As such, the young man dropped out of college. A baseball game as though seen through a telescope with the image in the middle and darkness surounding it. He was watching a baseball game when he experienced his vision becoming cloudy. Psychologically, he was intensely depressed. Greenberg stopped talking to people and isolated himself. It was then that Garfunkel came to him and talked Greenberg into going back to Columbia. After much insistence from his friend, Greenberg agreed and enrolled in the university once more. In college, Greenberg was completely dependent on his friend. And Garfunkel changed his life at the university to accommodate his blind friend, helping him walk to class, tending to wounds, walking together in the city, filling out forms for him, and so on. Garfunkel called himself “Darkness” when he was around Greenberg, a sign of empathy toward his friend. One day, Garfunkel told his friend at Grand Central Station that he had to immediately leave for an assignment. Suddenly, Greenberg was left alone in the crowd, completely terrified and not knowing what to do. He somehow managed to get back to the university, bumping into people and things. Greenberg calls it “the worst couple of hours in my life.” At the university, Greenberg bumped into a man who apologized to him. He recognized the voice - it was his friend who had just left a few hours back for an “urgent assignment.” In fact, Garfunkel had never left Greenberg’s side. He merely lied about it and followed his friend all the way back to the university. Garfunkel wanted Greenberg to realize that he could only be independent when he was truly in charge of his life. It worked and Greenberg became more confident about relying on himself. The two friends graduated from college and went their separate ways. The song A few years later, Greenberg received a call from Garfunkel who wanted US$400 to record an album with his musician friend Paul Simon. Greenberg only had US$404 in his bank account but gave all the money to Garfunkel without a second thought. He felt that it was time to repay the kindness Garfunkel had shown to him during college. With the money, Simon and Garfunkel recorded their first album “Wednesday Morning, 3 AM” in 1964. The album turned out to be a flop. Simon and Garfunkels first album, 'Wednesday Morning, 3am' shown in front of a record player. With money from Greenberg, Simon and Garfunkel recorded their first album ‘Wednesday Morning, 3 AM’ in 1964. However, one song from the album stood out - The Sound of Silence. In the following year, the song rocketed to the number 1 spot. Though Simon wrote the song, the lyrics to The Sound of Silence are filled with Garfunkel’s compassion as “Darkness,” Greenberg’s “companion” ever since he went blind. This can be seen from the song’s opening lines: “Hello darkness, my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again.” Simon and Garfunkel went on to have huge careers. As for Greenberg, he became a successful businessman and set up a US$3 million prize to find a cure for blindness. This is the true story behind this incredibly beautiful song. And it makes it that much more powerful!

This is my first time on your channel. Simon from Simon and Garfunkel wrote this song and first performed in 1964 and it is being said all over the world that when they sang it it was a warning of what was too come in the future, Disturbed's version is the rage that the warnings were not heeded.

The meaning of this song is that people have stopped communicating and that is destroying our world. If you truly like his voice you need to react to one of Disturbed's own songs, "Hold on to Memories, the official live video. Such a beautiful song with such meaningful lyrics that they perform at each of their concerts. It is amazing.

When Paul Simon wrote this song it was a warning to the world that we are losing are way. Disturbed is reiterating that as it's happening right now . As a cover only a few covers are ever better than the original. Nine inch Nails hurt was awesome, but Johnny Cash took that song into the universe. Disturbed took Sound of Silence into the deepest parts of the stratosphere.
