If no one has said it yet, David Draiman (the lead singer of Disturbed, and the man featured here) was trained as a Jewish Temple Cantor as a child. A Cantor being the person who calls the faithful to the temple for prayer, and leads them in that prayer. Also, his father and grandfather are/were Jewish Temple Cantors. It's a tradition at least 1,000 years older than "classically trained" singers.

Exactly, as I am in my 70's I remember when the original came out. We hippies felt like the song spoke to the frustration of our generation. The people were watching the "boob tube" and we wanted to discuss war, racism, hate and division. David's performance mirrors our thoughts in this generation, we don't speak to each other except through text. People "talking without speaking, hearing without listening." Our frustration continues, however for the first time in a long time we have HOPE! In Kamala Harris. 💙

That was a Musical tour de force, raw, powerful and emotional; Reading the other comments, I'm glad that Simon and Garfunkel said that they liked this version, high praise indeed ; Anyway back to Emma's reaction, and all I can really say is that Emma also delivered a tour de force; Their was a nice intro, building into the Song, and then Emma as always gives a great technical explanation for the differing aspects of the Song; Be that to do with breathing, or bringing a low deep register from within the Chest, and the clean tone being produced; The final round up was pitch perfect, Emma becoming emotional perfectly underscored the performance; Emma yet again showing with her raw, powerful and emotional reaction that she stands at the very pinnacle of reactors, few can match her, but the Charismatic Voice; Beth Roars and the Fairy Voice Mother push Emma close. 🥰😍💘💝💙💯👌🤟👏👍🙆♂👩🎤.

There are no words except maybe stunning that describe this. I'm a 73 year old chrome haired geezer who like many out here grew up in late 50s, 60s and the explosion of music in the 70s. We were 100% rock n rollers in our 20s, 30s and 40s. Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Stones, Doobie Brothers, Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd. We remember Simon and Garfunkel when their music hit the streets in 1965. From all that music, there has only been two covers/tributes I've heard that reach the original version or exceed it. This version of "Sound of Silence" and Nightwish with Marko Hietala singing a tribute to Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" from the End of an Era concert in 2005. Both are simply jaw dropping.

Some of the ladies who were there, said the entire room shook in resonance with Henk's singing. The entire season of the show with Henk and Floor Jansen (Nightwish vocalist) are worth watching (listening) This was my introduction to Disturbed. I didn't know them before they showed up in Conan's show. My first thought was that for a name like Disturbed, he was singing great, but too sweet. As the song progressed to the grittier part with the loud roars, I realized the name is perfectly right for their style. I'm a fan now.

I truly enjoyed all the expressions that just appeared from you. Honest and unashamed. As his voice soared, you soared. When his voice became low, you shrunk physically. Your expressions translated the entire piece from the first note to the last. Ive been bing watching David Draiman since i first saw him sing this particular song several weeks ago. I closely watch each person who listen to him for the first time. With that gift he has i see how his sound affects each person who hears him. In my mind i see him vibrationally connecting with each individual and lifting and changing each and every person that listens and tunes into him as he sings. Each cell in those who hear him for the first time vibrates at a slightly higher leven, lightens each person. They sway, turn their heads back and forth in time to his sound. People's expressions, their bodies, even the energy surrounding their faces change. Its almost like they are joined in a deep journey with this man. And that he is the driver and you are along for the ride, but the ride changes you. FOR THE BETTER. It feels to me like he lifts others up. You feel the care, the love, and the honesty and he brings that out in you and you are better for it. I see those who seem to develope a sense of more understanding about the meaning of the words song by a man with a voice that is so rare. He brings out a sense of wonder in people. GOD gives us gifts. We need to develope those gifts so we can give our GOD all the glory. GOD gave David a truly rare and special gift.
