The Cadi 500.. how this didn't become an ubiquitous hotrod engine in the 70's and 80s.. I'll never know. Lighter than a BBC, massive power and torque with incredibly smooth delivery. I saw a 69 Corvair with this engine in it (mid-engine with the TH425 of course)... what a BEAST!

They also have some aftermarket parts unlike the 429 for example. You can get new heads, rockers and intake manifolds aswell as obviously performance camshaft. The 429 you can only get a perf cam. Thats it 😂

People who could afford a cady weren’t hotrodders they were business men. They were proud of them and held onto them for longer as well so it took longer for hotrodders to get ahold of them.

I had a British Racing Green '65 Fitch Corvair set up as you described. Rad in front louvers in the hood. I had taken the 4-6-8 valvegear and bolted them on the '70 Eldo motor. Flip of a switch on the highway = 4 or 8. Once stuck in LA traffic I manually selected Low Range and 4 cylinder mode. It seemed to run a little cooler inching along like that. The TH425 wouldn't shift right in 4-cylinder mode - it wanted to rev up too high before shifting.

Say you supercharged with custom fuel injection on a 500 cid caddy! Hahaha this is fucking crazy cool bro! Make a build series on exactly what it takes to put together I have a 472 laying around I’d love to try this out, never crossed my mind to molest a caddy motor haha! Love it

I'm getting ready to put a jaguar TVS 1900 blower on my 6.0 LQ4 engine so I watched this video to get ideas. I already have a Holley lo ram bottom half manifold with injectors and an adapter plate that Tom Demeuse made from Demeuse Engineering but it's for an Eaton M90 gen 5. I am going to use a 1/2 inch aluminum plate and basically copy how you made your adapter plate and then bolt the supercharger and plate to the M90 plate. I plan on buying an intercooler from Tom at some point to go under the M90 plate so that's why I am leaving it on.

Wow .very interesting . My dad had a 68 coupe de ville . It was gold ,2 door ,white leather . It was beautiful .he bought it in 1974, and my mom didn't like it , long doors . Wanted a 4 door , so he traded it in for a 1972 4door 455 delta 88. First car i drove , and owned . That engine would be nice in a 60s or early 70s caddy . Good luck , you're very talented . ,

Did ever some one try to use heavy duty gaskets for those engine's? Like copper gaskets some thing similar for high compresion aplications?

Very cool the only thing I'm curious about is the distributor is 180 out. I mean you can just move spark plug wires around. I'm just picky about distributor position. (Edit) do you feel like making another set up? I'd buy an intake and supercharger with injectors and rails. I have 3 79 coupe devilles I think I can find somewhere to put it.

I recently decided to add a water to air intercooler between the supercharger and manifold.... and I also learned that I need to do a modification to the supercharger so that it can be properly lubricated when flipped upside down.

You have some interesting and unique content. Is that intake manifold cast iron or aluminum? If cast Iron how did you weld it? I build a 3 deuce for a Pontiac out of a 2BBL but brazed the added parts.
@raysoto19693 жыл бұрын
Cast iron. I know welding on cast iron is not ideal for strength, but since the plate is large, I figured it would be strong enough after welding around the entire perimeter
@robertmason83412 жыл бұрын
I was gonna ask the same thing about is it cast iron or aluminum. Being an old caddy engine I figured aluminum but the silver paint was making me wonder. The difficulty in welding of cast iron i believe is more about cracking as it cools. The people that successfully do it always talk about extensive preheating of the entire part, long slow welding with oxy/acetylene not arc welding, and slow gradual cooling aided with thermal insulating blankets as that’s when the cracking occurs. How did you weld this? Killer work again! I’ve been checking out all your stuff after stumbling onto your channel while looking for wiring info on msd box to gm hei distributor. Nice work explaining all the different hei modules btw!
