I think losing the tax credit will maybe hurt tesla more than Musk might think. The model 3 starts in the low 40s, a hybrid camry starts in the low 30s, if a shopper just wants to save money on gas and doesn't care about the extra features that price difference looks pretty big. However, with the tax credit at point of sale the price is really comparable making the model 3 the no brainer in that 2 car comparison.

I like the tax credit, bought 2018 Chevy Volt in April and I used the $4500 tax credit as a down payment, it does help people

Im not so sure about Tesla not needing the Tax Credit, If you take the credit away how many of their buyers don't buy a Tesla and instead buy a gas car? Tesla absolutely has the most buyers using that tax credit than any other manufacture.
@markrichards9792Ай бұрын
Losing the tax credit doesn't really benefit Tesla, it just hurts then less. May allow them to gain more market share

Love the show and the News Daily which have taught me so much about EVs and charging over the years. I have a smelly old Ford Galaxy but one day, when finances permit, I'll be the proud owner of a non-polluting vehicle (sorry, no Tesla). Although most of the journeys are around the city in Madrid, Spain, a few times a year I do long journeys and with limited charging infrastructure, a long range vehicle is required. What I don't want is a car that fits the 97% of my journeys but doesn't work well for the other 3% as that would mean a less convenient solution than I currently have. This rules out pretty much all current small EVs. Battery swap could be a good solution, popping in a big one for when needed, but it doesn't look to be coming this way any time soon. Maybe by the time I can afford it, range/charging will no longer be an issue, or I'll have to go for a PHEV.

Wild seeing Kyle’s personal politics debated in the r/evcharging subreddit this week 👀
@accountability2000Ай бұрын
I would not call it wild, it just contradicts Kyle's statements in the past that he stays out of politics. The one time he steps into it, it's a doozy.

@@accountability2000 Somebody made a comment this morning that he was a big fan of Elon and I asked where they were getting that from. He's obviously been a Tesla fan, but I've found them all to get pretty careful with politics. I'd say Martyn has been the only one to get into it a little. Seems like my question has been deleted.
@accountability2000Ай бұрын
@@Molishious I actually tried to answer your question earlier today but whoever manages this feed deleted it. Not cool, Dominic or whoever runs this. It's not like we are lying about something. In any case, Kyle recently gave a give thumbs (100%) to a Musk Tweet bargaining about getting appointed to Trump's DOGE department. This turned into a debate on Reddit (you can Google it), and some other aspects of Kyle's actions were brought to light. Personally, I decided to unsubscribe from all of his channels. Kyle's content and style was getting old, and all of his more talented staff, such as Max and Francie, had left. For someone who keeps saying on this channel and his own he doesn't get into politics, and then showing public support for a billionaire man-child with fascist tendencies for the stupidest and most abused idea of Trump's presidency to date was the last straw for me.

@@accountability2000Thanks for answering my question. I feel the same about Elon. I stopped watching the KZbin EV news channel called The Current because their producer Tim was such an Elon fan that he would argue with you and then delete you if proved him wrong. I’ll see if I can find the Reddit discussion. It makes me sad that things are getting deleted here as well. It’s amazing the power that Elon has that gets distributed through others. The irony is that you get deleted from criticizing someone who purports to advocate for free speech.

@@accountability2000 Same here, unsubbing from his channels. If I feel the need I'll skip to the results with ads blocked or look at the out of spec website (results of charging/range tests are posted there). Might still watch the detailing channel.

I think if you look around there are A LOT of V2 chargers out there. Don't hold your breath V4 is going to be on some mass deployment across the entire network. We can only hope it does.

A lot of Americans also say that they'll only buy "American made cars" but when you present them the list of most "American made" vehicles (Tesla, Toyota, Honda, etc.) they all say "not those cars." We Americans, as a general rule, have a very skewed idea of what's made in America and really just mean the perceived American vehicle brands, even though the next week these same people will complain about these same brands they pledge to patronize closing plants and shipping jobs to Mexico.

If legacy auto was just $7,500 short of making a profit on EVs I would say it would hurt. But they are losing a LOT more than that on each EV so they will have to fix that with or without the credit.

Isn't there another joint venture concerning EVs between VW and Ford? I would be interested to learn how it develops considering Ford used to be one of the main early investors in Rivian.

Idk if this is partnership you’re referencing. But on sale in Europe is Ford Explorer(smaller than US car with that name) and it’s made on the MEB platform.

If you get a car with NACS in 2025, you will need an adapter to charge at CCS chargers. Those are not going away any time soon... or being upgraded to NACS anytime soon.
