AC bidirectional does need a neutral balancing transformer (autotransformer) but that's much smaller/cheaper than an inverter.

Kyle. If you or another idiot want to pour cold water or wet rag on the sensor to by pass the safety system is outrageous and makes EV charging worse. I have driven Teslas since 2018. Three Teslas and a Bolt EV. I have never by passed safety and makes everyone on the channel look bad as they do not voice an opposing opinion. Tom, should have spoke up and said he does not agree. 😊

Dealership is a big investment outsiders made for Ford. Direct sales model is not cheap for the car maker because itself will have to make all the investment. Still waiting for a Tesla showroom/service center in my city of 1 million but doubt if they have the money to do so. Might only be cost effective in EV "hotspots" like CA, CO and NJ. America is a big country. Just count the number of Rivian service center. It's not covering a whole lot of places and definitely not the rural area. And now that the early adopters all get their EVs the rest will need more service because not everyone is spending hours researching EV online. Not great if we want to electrify the whole country. Everyone will have peace of mind if we all just stick to the MSRP. Make the MSRP more reasonable, add a little bit fluctuation to reflect local market situation. Let the dealer make some money instead of relying on shady schemes.

I was traveling through Albuquerque NM last week and my Tesla would not show one of the Supercharger locations. My wife googled superchargers and found it. WFT! If she had not done that we would have had to backtrack miles to get to one of the ones the car was offering.

@@zerix01 No, and it really was a supercharger it wasn't some level 2 thing.
@eb1888.7 күн бұрын
I'd like to see a segment on how charging costs have been rising. A local Supercharger peak daytime rate in my area of MI has gone up 20% to 0.41/kWh. This makes roadtripping ten cents a mile the same as a gas car. But the gas car trip won't include an hour and a half of sitting around on a 600 mile trip. So it's not equal. For someone thinking about a first electric this strongly points them to a hybrid. Save money when you can charge at home. Save time when you roadtrip because the costs are the same as full electric. A lot of people lease or trade within 5 years so the added complexity won't matter. In my opinion Elon needs to reduce the price of charging back down to 20 cents per kWh. Otherwise hybrids will be the smart choice for the people who are repeat new car buyers.
@zerix017 күн бұрын
Have you seen the prices on other chargers though? I'm getting 65¢ per kwh plus a dollar session fee at EVGo. If Elon is doing anything he is already getting people a better price.
@eb1888.6 күн бұрын
@@zerix01 The Supercharger system is the foundation in the US. If prices are too high, new car buyers will be able to use that concrete fact to justify buying a hybrid. FLASH. Tesla doesn't sell hybrids. Tesla won't be a choice. No matter the quality for current ice car drivers. A low price at the Superchargers will take away the strongest reason to buy a hybrid. Totally in Elon's power.
@iamnid6 күн бұрын
@@eb1888.Most charging occurs at home, not at DC fast charging sites. Higher prices at DC stations sucks but doesn't take away the only advantage EVs have.
@eb1888.6 күн бұрын
@@iamnid You aren't thinking about what a hybrid allows. The same exact amount of savings at home happens for a hybrid and a pure ev. Both plug in the same. Zero advantage. Where the hybrid and ev are also the same cost is roadtripping. 10 cents a mile for an ev and the same cost for gas for a hybrid. The hybrid driver doesn't spend time charging like an ev driver. The hybrid gets to his destination an hour or more ahead depending on the distance of the trip. Someone coming from a gas car will always choose a hybrid if they buy new to avoid the lost time because everything else is the same. Plus many more convenient gas stations.
@eb1888.6 күн бұрын
@@iamnid I'm comparing hybrids with a battery big enough to do local driving without using any gas.

The GM site that folks are quoting to show this adapter is available has no place to order it nor is there a price. While it might be imminent this adapter is still vaporware
