As a die hard buckeye wrestling fan I cannot believe how good this team is. It’s absolutely unreal. They have 3 of possibly the best 8 pound for pound college wrestlers ever on this team. Nolf, Retherford and Nickel will go down in history. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Suriano hadn’t left. I don’t think he would have won because Spencer Lee is inconceivably good. Not to mention the fact that this guy is all class. And the best college wrestler ever. Nothing else I can say. Uber respect for this squad.

Michael Glantz Well said. I am a die hard Wrestling fan. As good as Penn State is Ohio State was a Monster. This OSU team ranks with the best TEAMS of all time. Solid from 25 to Hwt. Unfortunate Mr. Snyder did not get a shot to wrestle for a National Championship. As good as Cael was at this age I may give the nod to Snyder as G.O.A.T. OSU was a worthy opponent. Respect.

Pennsylvania is unquestionably the pinnacle of high school wrestling. So it’s s very fertile recruiting ground for him. Also I think he just wanted to start his own dynasty and cement a legacy for himself elsewhere. Plus Penn State offered him a ton of money and he recently resigned for one of the biggest contracts in NCAA wrestling history. But mostly it was the chance to turn PSU into a powerhouse which he did.

Cael is out of his element when doing press conferences! Not only is he a coach but he’s also a spectator of the sport and when the press wants to talk to him there is usually wrestling still happening. He was approached after they locked up the national championships so his mind was elsewhere, watching the rest of the finals, being there to celebrate with his team!

I think it was because he was from Flo wrestling and not so much the question. Cael has to be annoyed at the piece flo ran on Suriano and the way he knocked Cael and PS.
