Thanks for the video, I was looking forward to it! I was Turkey in this game. There are a few mistakes with respect to the war in the east but it’s understandable since you didn’t have access to our press. (e.g: I was never allied with either Russia or Austria; I reached out to both in 1900, but both Russia and the new Austria (after the 1st surrendered in S1902) chose to work together instead of with me. This led me to turn to Italy for help, even though it’s not a natural choice for Turkey and it actually turned out very badly once you made peace with him and he turned on me. I was nearly wiped off the map and was left with 2 centres at the end of 1907, but luckily Austria started attacking Italy before I was gone and I could hence bounce back. It’s also why I couldn’t move against Italy even though you repeatedly asked for it during the time you were at war with him if you remember. It was my initial plan to seal a strong alliance with you to be secure in the Med, but I was forced into Italy’s arms instead and so nothing came of it. Ultimately, Austria and I finally cooperated when England became a solo threat, but the vast majority of the game we were enemies. I really like the Milan map better than the standard map because I find it more balanced. Italy is in my opinion very weak in the standard map (I'm probably bad at playing it, but still). Russia and France, who are the strongest powers on standard map, get nerfed; while England, Italy and Austria, who are the weakest on the standard map, get buffed. Overall, the changes this variant brings make the game more balanced I think. The only sad thing is that not many people play variants (I play on PlayDiplomacy), so if you make the game ”Ambassadors only” to get a high-quality game nobody joins. You thus have to make the game open to everyone and then you get the usual crappy players who NMR and surrender. In this game we were still quite lucky with that: two people surrendered at the beginning before anything happened, but then more problematically Italy surrendered in fall 1909 which gave Austria some free real estate in the Med and impacted the game...

Thank you for commenting and providing additional context and information for the viewers. Pinned! For what it's worth, I definitely felt nerfed sitting in France in this game. Normally, I feel as if that power can steamroll over other powers/players even with mediocre diplomacy. Congratulations on a well-played game!

I think you are a bit harsh on England. I dont know their press, but the fact is, their selfish diplomacy worked. Though it was because Germany made some interesting choices. Still, maybe england would have altered their play style if Germany seemed more competent.

Also, if England has a corner position it is not like France's position is not the worst either ahah

I think if you're in the corner, and one of your neighbors is incompetent, it can be a very easy game for you. Even if your diplomacy is bad, you can still sail through for quite a while.
