Really glad to see this project pop back up! I dare say that Warlord has seen a spike in sales of their starter due to your inspiring paint jobs and the approach to this particular project. I think it’s really a great way to see how a new project gets started, and then also how to game with 28mm armies in Hail Caesar without buying huge amounts of figures/ units to get started. Like many, very much looking forward to the next battle report. I hope you or Dom will make sure to take time to record the crack con game as well - sounds like it will be fun! Final comment - your Roman cavalry really came to life - the shield painting was tremendous. Well done all around.

Well done and a nice update, Akso very happy that you have done some antiquity things. Funny enough, I have done the dogs and some Celtic cav lately (alas mine are single based and I have started to use Clash of spears which I am totally fond of!) My Celts were also form the SPQR range and there are just 6 in a box which is not really many (it works rather well in Clash but would be not enought for HC). The new Warlord Resin is okayish....still confused by the rubbery swords....I love the dogs and their handlers!!

Thanks very much. I really like the dogs, the other ones I have I'll mix into some units or use on command bases 👍

Martin, I was looking at your painting guides to Celts and the Legionaries, I just wondered if you know a good contrast paint which you could use Lorica segmentata? Like an iron colour?
@7thson7262 ай бұрын
Hi there, so I would probably use a light sliver then either wash it with Basilicanum Grey or if you want it much darker black Templar. Army painter does have their range of metallic speed paints which I've heard some good things about but I haven't tried those yet 👍

Great figures and liked the freehand shields. What size bases did you use?
@7thson7263 ай бұрын
Thank you. So the bases are from Big Red Bat (FK&P6) and are roughly 60 x 70mm
@neilcook90883 ай бұрын
@@7thson726 Thanks for answering. Could you please tell me the sizes of bases you use for your various infantry. I've always painted and based 15mm figs on DBA sizes but would like to give the 28mm a go and yours always look so 'natural'.
@7thson7263 ай бұрын
@@neilcook9088 no problem, so the small infantry bases (I use them for the Romans and all skirmishers) are FK&P13b and measure appropriately 65 x 50mm. The large infantry bases I use for the warbands are the same as the cavalry ones. The command bases are the 60mm circular rounds, and all Big Red Bat bigredbatshop.co.uk/collections/all/bases Hope that helps 👍🙂
