Cafe Racer (BMW R100 by UpCycle Garage)

Contrary to what this channel usually present, on this episode, you will find 2 Cafe Racer projects.
One is based on a BMW R100 RT(Green fuel tank), and the other on the BMW R100 RS(Silver fuel tank).
They were built by the american Johnny Nguyen, Owner of UpCycle Garage, in California.
These beautiful custom motorcycles, show us what can be done, with a Bmw R90 S fairing.

Johnny did an exceptional job building these two cafe racers....a his and hers. Listening to these two bikes riding down the street was music to my ears. Beautifully tuned BMW R100's that look as good as they sound.....well done Racer TV for turning the background music off.

Beautiful motorcycles. The structural and engineering simplicity is what delivers the beauty. The copper tubing is a great touch to the design, and the electronics are sophisticated but well hidden. Despite your arguments related to the fairing, I personally never liked fairings. It's a purpose that is necessary in racing, but for today's cafe racers, it has become a cosmetic ornament, a ornament that the bike can do without. Regardless, these BMW´s, in my opinion, one of the best I've seen. Thanks for another great video.

I run BMW boxers and I wish the sound I get was like these machines. Nice minimalistic builds. I have always liked bikini fairings on the BMW boxers. I have Puig's version on my current R9T cafe racer build.

2 very nice bikes. I think the original gas tanks are the ugliest Beemer has made but on these custom bikes it actual fits in and they dont look too bulky as on the stock model. I would prefer twin mini headlights but that could be made per customers order I would imagine. Thanks for sharing!

These two projects are absolutely beautiful! Both are very exquisite renderings of the Café Racer’s evolution. I can’t pick one to be the best without finding features on the other that I feel are better. The fairings are the first thing that captured my attention and I think both work wonderfully well with his design. Very, beautiful machines and certainly contenders for the 2020 Top Ten! Unfortunately, things are more complicated than most people may think. I use this "robotic" voice created by software, because I'm Portuguese, and my bad English accent (and voice), can ruin the documentary character that I like for my videos. I already tried a real American voice in one of my videos, but things didn't work as I expected. Curiously, the robotic voice sounds very good for all non-English natives. Cheers.

erm ..the girl on bike is eyecatching :D There are a lot of details which I like and dislike on this builds which makes it very hard which one I like more :D I like the fairing very much! But i would prefer a bigger central light. The minimalistic motogadget on the white suits me better, the seat of the greener one is very cool, then again the exhaust piping on the green looks to complicated for me... Nevertheless, excellent craftmanship! Thank you for the video!

Having seen your recent short video featuring these two lovely BMWs I thought I should look at the full feature on them. I was not disappointed. They are indeed very clever builds, especially the fairings, which I do like. My only question for you and others would be, why do so many people use these semi "knobbly" style tyres? I appreciate it might be because they are going for a "look" but I do wonder sometimes about their practicability as a suitable road only tyre. What are your thoughts @RacerTV?

Thank you my friend for your kind comment. I understand what you say about "knobbly" style tyres. You are right about saying that they are a strange choice for this style of motorcycles. But there is a good reason about using them on the BMW R100. The original BMW R100 rims are too thin for its size. Therefore, "knobby" tires are a good solution to fit wide tires on thin rims. Aesthetically, these 2 custom motorcycles wouldn't look so good if the tires were thin. :) Cheers.
