It's apparent that Joyce DeWitt was good friends with John Ritter, as you can hear the emotion in her voice as she speaks of him. Of course, Joyce worked with him the entire series run. On the other hand, Somers seems to be going thru the expected motions as the host with her recollections. Funny that Somers has problems remembering the title of Ritter's hit show "8 Simple Rules", which Joyce clarifies for her (with a bit of an eye roll). Always loved Joyce DeWitt, she was a cutie pie on the show, and seems to be a very nice person off camera.

I can feel a wall up with Joyce tho- towards Suzanne. I would have it too. At the time Suzanne coulda f-Ed things up for everyone. On the other hand she took a big risk on behalf of all women. Loved the Ropers. Looking back, Norman Fell was totally right with his gut feeling that him and Audra Lindley shouldn't have spun-off a series of their own from Three's Company. He didn't want to do it, thought it was a bad idea, but so many behind-the-scenes people, as well as Lindley wanted to go for it. Makes you think what would the show have been like if the Ropers had stayed on Three's Company.

+Gege Lafaille No, she knew why they had nothing to do with her and yes, she was obviously still a bit bitter and angry. She and her manager-husband tried to pull a power move, believing she was THE star of the show and the show would be a bust w/o her. Her husband, pushed her inner diva into behaving in true form. When John Ritter distanced himself from her, you know the issue was major and with Susanne. Glad they had the sit down. Sorry, Suzanne missed her opportunity to work w/John again, being bitter. R.I.P. John.

+Lianne Arnote Right idea wrong time to do it. She went about it the wrong way too.The person who should have been speaking about the salary discrepancy was the JOHN RIDDER. If he would have spoken up it may have been different. Joyce was smart to keep quiet and keep getting paid.She knew if she had backed Suzanne they would have found another brunette to be the New Roommate.
@anthonydeleeuw8 жыл бұрын
Lianne Arnote I disagree! Everybody has a job where their coworker is getting paid way better then themselves! Susanne just used that as a tool! Even today, there are many jobs where a guy would not make half as much as a woman would and I am very sure Susanne Sommers found that out when she went to work for Playboy as a model!

A few comments. A. I do agree that Suzanne invited Joyce to her web show for ratings. My boyfriend and I recently met Joyce, Priscilla Barnes (a complete blast!!) and Richard Kline at a signing show. I mentioned Suzanne to Joyce, and mentioned 'Dancing with the Stars', and she simply said, "I don't go there…" I dropped it. B. I do agree with the post that life is too short to be negative, and the show provided laugh after laugh. I do think it's in the Top 5 of all time, particularly Season 5 with Lana, Furley and Chrissy, it's a classic season with Chrissy in full "pig tail" perfection. C. I do not like how Suzzanne said "no" to John for "Eight Simple Rules". She should have at least said, "Let's do dinner instead, me, you and Joyce…" Again, Priscilla Barnes is a blast, so much that I am appreciating the "Terri Years" on 'Three's Company' more now.

I used to work at Hertz at the Oakland airport from 1991 to late 1995. I was a manager assigned to deliver platinum customers their cars directly to their private jets or to the curb if they flew on a commercial airplane. John Ritter came to the Hertz counter to receive normal service but he wore a disguise with a hat and sunglasses. The rep recognized his voice and name and wasn’t allowed to interact with platinum customers according to their union contract. I was at the counter and she asked me to take over the rental transaction. He told us that he wanted to be treated like a normal human being. So we gave him the normal courtesy of being treated like a normal customer. We told him the directions to the parking lot where his rental car was parked and he left going in the opposite direction. The rep and I looked at each other in disbelief. I never forgot this incident with a very unusual celebrity longing to be treated like everyone else.

Three's Company was such a fantastically entertaining show. I was only 6 years old when I first started watching. No show has ever captured the wackiness, goofiness, and innocent "sexiness" of Three's Company. Jack was ALWAYS trying to get some action with any attractive girl within 10 feet but he was never an arrogant douchebag or stalking creep. It was actually endearing. This was part of the appeal: lots of sexual tension but NO sex whatsoever. It was truly a show for the comedic ages.

I lost my dad as a child and I remember just loving the character of dad/Paul. He was one of the first celebrity deaths that truly effected me. I have to give such kudos to the way 8!simple rules handled his death. That was such a brutal episode, but it was done just as it should have been.
