I appreciate Dr Yuen's perspective, but when it comes to the wedding question, I just don't see how it can be acceptable to attend a gay wedding as a Christian. The entire purpose of a wedding, and the reception as well, is to celebrate the marital union. Simply being in attendance is a show of support for the union. Even with the example of in laws who aren't very happy about the wedding, at the end of the day, they attend because regardless of how they feel, they still want to show their support. But we should not be supporting gay unions. So for me, I just don't see how I would ever feel like God is permitting me to attend s gay wedding, regardless of the circumstances. There are other ways to show that you love someone than to attend a celebration of their marriage.

I believe you are absolutely right. If God has forbidden homosexuality then we should not take any part in anything.that recognises, affirms or celebrates it. We HAVE to put God first even if we are rejected, judged, misunderstood, or despised for our obedience. Jesus was despised and rejected. We must not do anything that says that sin is ok or doesn't matter. That's encouraging people in their sin and deception. That isn't right and it isn't loving. "Woe to those who call good evil or evil good." (Isaiah 5 vs. 20).

Consistant with sexuality, marriage is equivalent with single. (Assume single to be lonely, assume singleness needs to be fixed, holy sexuality) 3. Compassionate with unholy sexuality 4. To the people who think that being gay is a choice, does that mean when you were young you could have chosen to be gay if you wanted to? If you answer no to that question, why would you think that someone else could choose to be gay? I honestly don't know why I am gay, but I do know that it had nothing to do with how my parents raised me. I was nowhere near a "momma's boy". I was actually much closer to my dad and spent more time with him than I did with my mom, and he treated me just like any "normaI" dad would treat his son. I was raised exactly the same way and in the same house as my older brother, who turned out to be straight. And I was never sexually abused when I was a kid. I never even knew anyone who was gay until I was 17. Nothing about my childhood was abnormal or out of the ordinary. If it were as easy as just being a choice, I would have chosen to be straight a long time ago, because the discrimination and hatred that many gay people face has tormented me for most of my life. Because of that, I still haven't accepted myself for being gay, unfortunately, from the time I knew that I was different when I was 7-8 years old, all the way up until today. I thank God that there are caring people out there who support and understand the LGBTQ community.

@@Maksie0 If God didn’t place the tree in the garden and allow the snake (the devil) in the garden, then Adam and Eve would have had no choice but to follow what God says. What God wanted was for Adam and Eve to choose to love and listen to Him, not be forced into it. But Adam and Eve, like all of us, chose not to listen to God and disobey Him. This had consequences. Like a child who is repeatedly told not to go to the top of the stairs without assistance, but does it anyway, it’s the child’s fault for not listening to good advice. This of course does not apply when the child doesn’t comprehend what they are being told. It would be then down to the parent to properly protect their child. With Adam and Eve, they wouldn’t have been only a few months old. They were created as adults with adult brains and adult comprehension. When reading the creation story in Genesis, it is also highly likely that they would have lived many years in the garden of Eden before eating from the one tree God told them not to.

After engaging with folks in this comment thread those professing and openly rejecting of Christ I realize a couple of things: 1) 'we' can use Godly language, such as "I'm the worst of all sinners," or talk about what God means to us or his greatness but really this is a cover to hide our unrepentance in regards to 'certain sins.' Jesus pointed this out regarding the "religious" unbelieving Jews, "You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: these people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far." To be clear I too have been guilty of this. This should be a scary thing for all, especially those naming Christ. Talk about our sin can not be a stand in for true repentance. Yes. there must be confession but there must also be new direction and that toward Christ and His Father. And that goes for all sins including homosexuality. But of course some can't acknowledge certain desires as sinful in the 1st place. For that I pray for grace. 1b) the realization of how I do the above and more particularly as a cover up when I've been placing lesser things like my comfort or entertainment above God. 2) we really underestimate and belittle the joy of the Lord and the power of that joy as greater than our pet sins. I think it's because we don't really want this joy or we want it on our terms. Ie. Let me have that + my sin. The story of the rich young ruler is perfect for confronting this mentality.

What's not a choice? Every day, we are forced to confront the big question. How much of our behavior is programed, and what can we really control? I just happened across this today and really needed it right now! I have been praying so hard for my gay son. He was raised in a strong 2 parent home & in a Bible believing & teaching church family. But after a year at college & 6 years in the military, he informed me that he is gay. He went back to college on the GI Bill, accomplished 2 degrees in 4 years & now has the job of his dreams. He's had a few relationships, but is not highly promiscuous. It's not that he says he doesn't believe in a God anymore.... He is very anti God. Breaks my heart. And he will put anyone down in no uncertain terms if you don't agree with him about something. No concern for another person's feelings. In the past he was always giving & loving to everyone. No longer. And no allowance given for family or old friends. People walk on egg shells if they/we don't agree with him about something. Otherwise he's still fun to be & talk with. And we love him with all our hearts. I felt so broken on the day he brought me the Bible I gave him when he left for boot camp & said I could have it if I wanted it. Otherwise he was going to throw it away because HE sure didn't need it - he'd grown out of fairytales. 😢💔 He knows I am fully a Grace and Faith follower of Christ & accepts that. But he says snarky comments if I even mention praying or prayers answered, or having faith, etc. I'm not the preachy kind and he knows I pray for him. He thinks it's funny, but O WELL... I pray constantly anyway. 😊 You have given me hope & faith to keep praying & believing the Holy Spirit will do whatever is needed to manifest in his life. God bless you and your ministry.

In the opening testimony here, there is more expression of 'belief in the bible' than 'belief in the God who was in Jesus': and this represents a problem when struggling to ascertain how we are justified in the sight of God. Is it through 'works' or is it through 'faith', or is it "through Christ" (however that is conceived as effected). At 16:00 Dr Yuan claims he made a "choice to follow Jesus" in rejecting his search for "a monogamous partner of the same sex". Regardless of how we 'believe' we need to treat and read our scriptures, where - in those scriptures - does Jesus of Nazareth demand this of us? Paul certainly does: but how one reads Paul is dependent upon that 'belief' I mentioned earlier. Is Paul writing for God, in the way a devout Muslim claims Mohammed was? Identity Politics Trigger-Warning! I write as an old (71) homosexual, convinced Christian, ex-student of theology (especially Christology and Theodicy) who has shared forty years of life with a gentle, handsome, male atheist. My own homosexuality is not the "core of who I am"; any more than it is the "core of who any heterosexual or bisexual person" is. Belief, and trust, in the Creator God of Israel, who is embodied in Jesus of Nazareth, the Eternal Word, is the "core of who I am"......I hope. This lecture/testimony amounts to the same lengthy, drawn-out, 'NO!' to which I have been listening all of the adult part of my life, from 'scriptural literalists'. And - in my opinion - that extra length does not amount to extra 'holiness'. God does not demand celibacy for all those not married before a Christian Holy Table, in a Christian church, before witnesses. But plenty of human beings, whose writings have been 'canonised', do!

Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!" Please allow me to give you my testimony. From a very young age, I believed that I was gay. So I prayed many nights for God to change me, but He never did. I was living a dangerously destructive lifestyle for many years. On one particularly bad night, I believed I was going to die. In the depth of my despair, I asked Lord Jesus for forgiveness and to my surprise He answered me. My spirit has felt like I was flouting on the infinite ocean of His Mercy and Love. When I asked the Lord if I should leave my partner, He said I should regard my boyfriend as my husband. He then pointed me to (Matthew 19:11-12) Born Eunuchs was a term in ancient Jewish culture that described men with Gay tendencies. Jesus asserts that we a simply born that way and shows no condemnation

Aren't eunuchs single, as in, they live without a sexual partner?
@jean-pauldebeer81514 жыл бұрын
@@User_Happy35 Scripture must be read in context and the historical cultural settings should be considered to receive the entire meaning. These words were given in response to the question: which men should not marry women. First, there are those who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven, i.e., those who foreswear marriage to better serve God. Second, he mentions those who have been made eunuchs by others, an apparent reference to castrated males. But Jesus mentions a third category eunuchs who were "born that way". This term "natural or born eunuchs " in ancient Jewish culture (as reflected in the Talmud), were not associated with missing testicles. Rather, they were associated with people with gay tendencies. It should be obvious that this category of male eunuchs should not marry woman, as they are gay. Furthermore, Jesus was very specific... "let him who is without sin cast the first stone." As none as are free from sin, none of us should be passing judgement onto others. Anyone who is condemning homosexuality is in fact going against the teachings of Christ.

@@jean-pauldebeer8151 There is only one, valid expression of sexual contact between two people and that is between one man and one woman in matrimony. No matter how the latter-day intellectuals spin it, that is always what the church has preached with apostolic authority given by Jesus. The only reason this issue keeps popping up is because of that old problem that perpetually hits us all....rebellion. We don't want to be told that our sin is wrong. Unfortunately, you'll have any number of people, Christian or otherwise, that will "accept you where you are" and tell you that God "loves you unconditionally". He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ “I tell you that the tax collector, rather than the other, went home justified before God." By your comment. Would you say that you resemble the Pharisee or the tax collector ?

@@jean-pauldebeer8151 Straw man, my friend. We are all miserable sinners; what makes us acceptable to the Lord, having been saved by grace, is our desire to rid ourselves of sin and obey Christ every day. It's not hard to work out what those things are. Sexual purity is a huge issue in this day and age and just about every sexual orientation is pushing to insist that their view of sexuality is allowed for, not because God allows for it in Scripture, but because these folks feel it's fair. A subjective sense of fairness has nothing to do with Truth. Again, the only God-given expression of sexual contact between two people is between a man and a woman in marriage. The church has always taught that and always will, modern "progressive" churches excepted.

I’m sorry, but this is a blatant double standard. When a gay person pursues a same-sex relationship, you’d tell them that they should abandon it in favor of devotion to god, because they shouldn’t base their whole identity around being gay, but being holy. But when a straight person forms a strong relationship, that’s totally fine? That’s not basing your whole identity around being straight? Where is the line? Why can heterosexuality coexist with holiness, and not homosexuality?
@ii9542 жыл бұрын
@King James obviously Adam and Eve were straight because they were literally the only two people on earth, if the point was to make babies then yeah that’s what they would have to do. But now that there’s more than two people why would god have a problem with it? It literally isn’t effecting anyone.

@@ii954 After their punishment, God made Adam and Eve married with each other. Yes truly this is a establishment of man-woman marriage but it's by their punishment. But the committed marriage between a man a and woman has been established with traditional taboos whether it's good or bad in the eyes of God. But what will never accept is same sex marriages or any immoral adulterous sexual relationships. When He, Jesus and Holy Ghost went to Sodom and Gommorah to rescue Lot, they saw people practice homosexuality, bestiality. The people of Sodom saw these three angels, they want to RAPE them all! So three angels blinded, them told Lot to leave the two wicked cities for they will destroyed it with fire and brimstone. This lead to to time of Moses after God released the Israelites from Egypt, gave the Ten Commandments and one of commandments saying 'Thou shalt not commit adultery.' Even the New Testament Gospels when Jesus gave His sermon on the mount called the 'Beatitudes.' He did said the 'Thou shalt not commit adultery.' And He gave an example that 'If any man looks into a woman with lust had already committed adultery in his heart.' This action also symbolic that sexually immorality is not just adultery, its with anyone committed any lustful actions with any person whether it's any child, adult or even an animal. Yes God created sex, but He sets moral standards to every creature not to use sex as immoral practice of power, but to promote balance between a male and female relationship by committed union and that male and female martial relationship can have sex to each other. Any violations can lead to serious consequences to your life and body and your relationship with your martial partner and with Jesus Christ. So the practice of same sex marriages, changing your sexual nature remains to this day an abomination in the eyes of God. And I hope all nations of the Earth should practice sex in God's Way.

I believe you’re taking the reference you make to Malachi out of context. First Malachi is a prophet text, so he is speaking to the people of that time. During this reference of Malachi 2:15 the context is of divorce amongst Israel. Malachi would be speaking of having children outside of the marriage. As well, not all that is spoken of in the 12 prophetic books are meant to apply to the current Christian.
