On Thursday afternoon, #CaitlinClark announced that she'll declare for the WNBA Draft following #Iowa's 2023-2024 season. Why she decided to announce now, what this does for her and the rest of the #Hawkeyes, what to expect from the environment in Carver-Hawkeye Area on Sunday, and more.
Plus, the Iowa men are still vying for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Who they'll have to beat to get there, expectations for their Big Ten Tournament seed, and more.

I think staying in the Midwest was just to enticing for Caitlin. Plus she will be near Connor. I think she sees all the talent that she has looked up to for years. Don't know if she even bothers with all the pitfalls that is the WNBA. She will help Indy attendance home and away. The non Caitlin games, she will have no impact. National TV will only want to air CC games. She probably will maintain or add on to her sponsors. There will be jealousy, hate, racism deflection her way. There will be comments from opponents and her own teammates that she is not use to hearing. It is a shame that her future experiences will not look like her past experiences. She better toughen up. She will be on the floor a lot, because she will get elbows and nasty picks. Complaining to the refs will get her tee'd up. From what I hear, the refs are terrible in the WNBA. Never watch the WNBA and I do not see that changing.

Things I see coming. The WNBA draft will get amazing ratings. We will be seeing a ton of Indiana games on TV. Caitlin will wind up making wayyyy more money from commercials than from her salary. Jay Williams will crawl back under his rock.

Agreed. All the things you listed will come true. It's funny that if you tried to suggest she go pro back in December when Indiana got the first pick, you'd get your head chopped off (I certainly got raked over the coals online for saying so). All of the pros to leaving vs staying were in place back then. Just about every rationale business and basketball reason suggested that she leave. The only reason to stay would have been out of an emotional pull to not let Iowa fans down. The burden she'd have to carry next yr if she came back would've been unbearable...w/ no Kate and Gabbie to lean on. She would've been exhausted and probably not too happy. And since she has nothing left to prove, she would have been getting torn down and nitpicked even worse than she does now.

There are a lot of issues the W needs to fix, but they won't happen in one yr which is all CC had left anyway.

Move the Indiana Fever to Des Moines, Iowa and they would get the WNBA out of the debt that they can't get out of!😂 The children of the corn will fill the Wells Fargo Arena and then some!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤟🤟🤟🤟😜😜😜😜

I think she should stay at Iowa. It appears racism is rampant in the WNBA. I have concerns she will be brutilized in the league.
@jjohnson3203

The WNBA is her dream (like just about every other female hooper). She was heading there eventually either this yr or next. I think the opposite is going to happen. I think she will be seen as the golden goose and will be well protected as opposed to brutalized. Were Sue Bird, Taurasi, Stewie, Della Donne brutalized? Larry Bird did just fine in majority-black NBA of the '80s; because at the end of the day, he was a straight baller and there was no choice but to respect him. I believe Caitlin will similarly meet whatever challenges come.

@@EliotCloughRivals it means she is joining an invisible league. It was fun watching her highlights in college, but the WNBA is a black hole that swallows everything and everyone who gets too close.
