From the other angle it looked intentional, especially the way she straightened her fingers like spikes and struck CC in the eye. I wonder why sharp acrylic spikes are allowed to be glued to fingertips when they have no use in game play except for vanity or to injure an opponent. Neither baseball or football would allow dangerous spikes, and they might even have some advantage other than causing injuries. If CC suffers a serious injury from this type of unregulated equipment and unregulated injurious behavior then I hope it is the end of the WNBA forever. The NBA subsidizes them with $15 million per year, which should give the NBA plenty of power to insist on removing those finger spikes, re-training the officials, or replacing the refs and the league president too.

It's possible it was her subconscious kicking in… that Carrington's emotions got the best of her… and the street fighter came out… funny she seem to pull back right after she did it, just like when she did at other times... like maybe part of her knows she shouldn't be doing it… a sociologist or psychologist might have a field day with the stuff… But, no matter what, CC does NOT deserve it and it would be a tragedy if such a great talent would be harmed and not be able to shine like she's obviously meant to. Like she does.

Carrington’s Targeted Attack on Clark: The fact that - as seen in the enlarged video of the event, which shows her back, standing over the downed victim - Dijonai Carrington. ends her downward attack-claw swiping motion with her back to Caitlin Clark and her palms already up in a plaintive motion to the ref (audience/teammates/bench?) feigning innocence of a crime whose consequences she lacked the nerve or conscience to turn to face. I see this orchestrated series of motions as - at the very least - evidence of a dangerous, vicious impulse unleashed, if not a totally premeditated, violent act. Whatever sanctions the league manages to find the spine to impose on the volatile and often limit-pushing competitive Carrington, with her widely-recognized predilection for unsportsmanlike behavior, this potentially career-ending - not to mention life altering - attack on another player should include a permanent prohibition from ever sharing a WNBA floor with Caitlin Clark. {Thomas G Rutenbeck}

@@martintimberlake2243 My favorites are DKM and Paddocast sports. Those guys are the best doing it right now. They have the best takes and the most professional presentation of the KZbin group. I agree that Micks content is becoming less and less worthy of my clicks just because of the sheer volume, but as soon as I want to hear someone’s take on the news he has a video talking about it from his perspective. I shy away from John the Liquidator, he doesn’t provide much value since he mostly replays the press conferences which I already watch and I don’t perceive that he has a particularly good basketball mind. Also I don’t particularly like his format, what do you mean we have to go all the way up to Indy? That guy “Horrible coaching” on KZbin or something close to that name, really exposes the flaws in the defense. I am starting to like what he’s doing, but he literally yells at you for 5 minutes at a time while reviewing the different plays. It's the opposing players and coaches, and officials that HATE Caitlin Clark. The league itself is sending a message to all the punishers that it's a-okay to physically harm Clark. And also, when it comes to her Fever teammates, they just barely tolerate her being on the team. And only because their crowds have doubled, people know some of their names and they're flying Charter, not commercial. Imagine what Pistons players would have done in retaliation had other teams continued to be abusive to Isaiah. And then there's the Fever coach. Terrible coaching. The one weakness in Caitlin's game is her inept defense. Caitlin is being shown nothing, not being coached in FUNDAMENTAL basketball. If Phil Jackson picked 12 mediocre WNBA players to form a team, their record at the end of the season would be 40-0. Bad bad bad coaching THROUGHOUT the WNBA. Lastly, when it comes to assaults like what we're witnessing, the punishment should be assessed against the negligent player regardless of whether she meant to do it or not. A rule that takes away any discussion on whether it was on purpose or an accident would put a halt to "accidental" fouls real quick.

You can see this in the footage from the angle where the camera is looking at Carrington’s back and you see her fingers close into an attacking pose, which anyone who knows martial arts will recognize. There’s no valid reason for her to do that and it’s as clear as day. It was as obvious as it could be.

There is a reason why DiJonai Carrington as well as the other players who laid uncalled flagrant fouls on Clark, and the called flagrant fouls got away with this "Prison Ball Basketball Play" on CC22, The reason is that the top players on the top teams get that special Whistle - the one whistle that allows them to play "physical Basketball" which after all this is what the WNBA is all about. Players are allowed to play defense with uncalled hard fouls and when the other team plays hard basketball back they are called out by the Refs. The last point is that if CC22 calls out the Refs, which she has done, she gets more fouls called on her, as well as Technical fouls. DiJonai Carrington, Special Whistle. 2024 Fouls 40 Games, 100 committed, with 157 trips to the foul line, 1.5 to the foul line for every foul committed & Draws 2 fouls for every foul committed. Since Caitlin Clark came into the wnba I've watched every one of her games and hundreds of highlights she's been targeted from day one in junior high it's documented this has been going on for years why have we not even heard of this girl until the last couple of years, when she blew up the Woman's tournament With a little school from Iowa beating the big dogs. They know she's turning the league upside down they need to stop her, they make a lot of money on betting. They know all these extra eyes on them is not good they want to put a stop to it because Caitlin Clark is bringing a sea change to the WNBA. Everything will be done to stop it by the old guard. It's all VERY obvious if open our eyeballs. But it's kind of human nature not to want to see so much evil and hatred in the world it's sickening to us. Thank you Lord for protecting Caitlin Clark and please continue to do so. AMEN

1. UNDENIABLY it was INTENTIONAL (freeze frame shows the dirty defender's arm/hand/fingers were all raised straight up AND still rising/jumping up when Clark's pass was ALREADY LONG GONE from her hand, with the basketball itself ALREADY PAST the defender's hand and past her head. Absolutely no need to contact Clark 2. Moreover, the defender then -- rather than keeping her arm, hand, and fingers completely straight on the downward motion -- "inexplicably" cocked her wrist DOWNWARD in a SCRAPING motion and then "accidentally on purpose" THRUST her fingers and fingernails directly into Clark's face and eye. Just disgusting. 3. Despite Clark downplaying it, there is NO WAY the poke in the eye DIDN'T AFFECT the accuracy of Clark's shooting (likely her vision was/is slightly blurred); I have never seen her shooting "just off" the mark to such a degree. She needs to play future games wearing the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar goggles he made famous late in his career.

If this is not addressed by the league before the next game I am done with the WNBA. I also hope CC leaves the league for greener pastures, leaving this league on welfare until the NBA pulls its funding and that is what the league deserves. While there are some players that I have become fans of. They are not enough for me to care enough to make the time to watch.

You can see in the slow motion of Carrington actually watching to control her hand so as she hits Caitlin in the eye with a finger! Watching even before it happened where if it were avoidable she could've avoided it! She was targeting Caitlins eye specifically! No foul when that was definitely a technical! The refs that don't do a proper job should be fined! I've never seen refs as bad as what they have in the WNBA!
