After 20 Games in The WNBA, How Good of a Player is Caitlin Clark Really?
Coming out of the University of Iowa, Caitlin Clark was one of the most anticipated rookie's in WNBA history. After becoming the NCAA's all time leading scorer, many people wondered how well she would do in the WNBA. Since being drafted she's already became a WNBA All-Star and one of the leagues best guards. But after 20 games how good is Caitlin Clark and The Indiana Fever really? #wnba #nba #caitlinclark #indianafever #iowa #basketball #CourtsideChase

I have not seen this "Level" of a Player since Larry Bird came in the NBA. It's an awareness of what 10 players are doing all at the same time.. Something you seldom see, cause its something not many can comprehend. Incredible mind with a vision... Some people never get past concentrating on their own game, others can only see one play at a time, to comprehend what you need to do offensively while being mindful what /who the defense is capable of is " High Knowledge/Skill Basketball" Caitlin Bird Clark' i Love You 😍😍

No one will ever say that Caitlyn Clark was never tested. I'm most impressed by her composure and maturity both on and off the court at such a young age. On the court, it has been a pleasure watching her accept the challenge of taking the reigns of the offense despite relentless defensive pressure, and leading what would've most likely been a below average offense, to a possible playoff appearance.

Caitlin Clark is the only reason why I watch WNBA. Prior to her arrival, the W was a struggling league that seldom drew crowds that reached 50% of the crowds that Caitlin Clark draws. You only need to see the number of teams that have had to move to larger venues when they play Caitlin Clark and the Fever. I have never doubted what her impact would be on the WNBA. What is disappointing is the limitations she is enduring due to coaching that doesn't seem to know how to run plays that allow here to be herself.

Is that why Caitlin Clark leads the WNBA with 102 turnovers? Let's not forget that Caitlin Clark averaged 4.6 turnovers per game in College. Reese is breaking rookie and all-time records whereas CC has only rookie records. She takes 2 shots: logo 3, or a right-handed layup. I've never seen a supposed scoring superstar so handicapped. She can't outrun, or outjump, and has average handles. Her assist-to-turnover ratio is atrocious. She looks lost on defense and disappears in the 4th quarter. She's just a passer now.

Caitlin brought me to the WNBA. Watching it, I see women playing so much harder than their male counterparts in the NBA during the regular season. Every game is a death match with incredible intensity. The all-star game (unlike the joke in the NBA) promises to be highly competitive. This is great basketball.
@comradeyellow6781

People understimate the fact she has 2 women guarding her at the 3pt line and another one behind guarding potential drives to the rim. She's getting the star treatment from defenses and it's not easy to deal with that as a rookie. There's obvious areas of her game that need improving, but she's showing glimpses of greatness, she'll put all the pieces together sooner or later.
@CourtsideChase
@CourtsideChase 11 күн бұрын
My point exactly. People that don't watch the games have no idea how she's being guarded. She's definitely getting that superstar treatment, it's only a matter of time before she puts it all together.

She is not being guarded by 2 people and here's why, every time down the court one of her bigs, sets a screen for her so another person has to pick her up on the other side. If anything, it's clark and 1 of her teammates that's is 2 on 1 on the defender.
@comradeyellow6781
@comradeyellow6781 11 күн бұрын
@@wbazile she's guarded by 2 at the 3pt line, even when they screen, the other team just switch the pick and rotate to mantain cover, so she has no room to shoot or drive down the lane. That's why so many people are rightfully criticizing the way the Fever set picks, nobody rolls to the rim or pops away from the ball thus no advantage has been created by the screen
@wbazile
@wbazile 11 күн бұрын

She's number one on opposing team's scouting reports and the focus of their defensive schemes. They do everything they can to try to shut her down and get the ball out of her hands, yet she's still putting up great numbers. As the people interviewed on the Gilbert Arenas show said, if they had been guarding her like everyone else, she'd be averaging 25 points a game.
@timbabcock7645
@timbabcock7645 11 күн бұрын
They are guarding her like everyone else. A defender is on her. The Casuals like to say how she is double and tripled team but the only time that happens is when a screener tries to set a screen and the screener's defender comes up and gets involved. That's the same from junior-high on up. Nothing new there accept to a newbie. She has no midrange game and can't use her left hand. She's not athletic enough to create her own shots. Why do you think she's become more passer dominant? The glory days of Iowa are over.

She is really amazing, even when there is room for improvement. She has tied and broken records left and right every time she steps on the court..and every time she is off too…Her ability to perform to this level under so much pressure and expectations is out of this world, very rare…her ability to stay composed during press conferences and always say the right thing, her profesionalismo, respect for everyone, never a negative thing to say about anything or anyone. Very impressive for her age..or any age particularly in the WNBA..I which I could see a video like this from ESPM, or fox sports, any of them…I could not stand her getting robbed of the rookie of the year award ..

Given what Caitlin has faced being a primary defensive target with teammates who have trouble catching passes, passing the ball, hitting wide open shots and bunnies, I think she's remarkable. Once she gets better players that can pull some defense off her and a coach who can leverage her offensive talents, the scoring will come. After Taurasi gave her some shine, other players are seeing she's earning their respect. This definitely isn't Iowa anymore, but she's already breaking records while just getting started. I am thrilled to be witnessing this journey through the WNBA. Nice analysis by the way. Subscribed.

I agree, let her cook this year, they’re not going far anyways. Let her play freely and get her teammates used to her fast pace playing style. It’ll pay off next year. She’s putting her teammates in a lot of 4-3 advantages. If her teammates can just start making teams pay for double teaming CC consistently, then they’ll have to play CC honestly. Even Aja Wilson doesn’t get double teamed anywhere near the rate CC does. It’s wild.
@CourtsideChase
@CourtsideChase 12 күн бұрын
I completely agree, let her play through her mistakes now and it will pay off in the future. She gets blitzed on every pick and roll and it doesn't help they run that same play over and over again. Her teammates are slowly figuring out what they have to do to help Caitlin but it's a process for sure
@CharlieBrown-qd8vc

Until she has teammates who can pull that defensive pressure off her, it's going to be tough to "let her play freely". This is some of the best woman basketball players in the world double-teaming and blitzing her every time she makes a move with the ball. Number 1 on teams scouting reports is Caitlin Clark. I believe in time she'll make everyone in the league a believer. But given this organization, it's going to take some time.

When someone feels they need to do it all or make things happen because of a less than average team, their play will suffer. With that said, Caitlin is doing great. I see great things for Caitlin Clark in the future.

This is only Sides' second year after taking over a last place team. 2 first round draft picks don't go to good teams. When a teammate steps away from a pass and allows the defender to have the ball, that isn’t really the passers turnover. You would never expect your own teammate to just allow a turnover in the NCAA, but we have seen it happen in the WNBA. Another stat that is telling in the WNBA is how many “top scorers” have almost Zero assists. It is like they never grew out of their high school ball hog habit.

When I hear the news, and watch her highlights, she seems impressive, then I hear her numbers, and it's less so. Today I watch a few minutes of a game, and gad, the WNBA is pathetic, I doubt their very best could beat a good boys high school team.

Funny how watching "a few minutes of a game" gives you insight on how "the WNBA is pathetic". She's not perfect. She's a rookie...and still breaking records. But you do have a right to your opinion...like every other hateful, know-nothing troll.

1. Caitlin Really needs to hit the gym/weights, she's physically too thin, She's gives her all but just runs out of steam into the 4th quarter. 2. Sides needs to go, she is a HORRIBLE coach, too many times Caitlin (and other team members) are standing there with their thumbs up their butts because they have No clue what to do in Any situation. 3. Caitlin needs to fully understand that when on the floor SHE Is the Captain. The other players are trying to follow her lead because they are lost and Fully understand they're NOT going to get guidance from the bench. With No coaching it's like the blind trying to lead the blind.

She doesn't always run out of steam in Q4, and when she does, it's not a function of her needing to 'hit the weights', it's that she's been playing basketball almost non stop since October.

Listen I love Caitlin but let’s be real honest, she is way to slow, defensive liability, cannot create own shot, cannot jump at all , hasn’t been shooting any good, right now she is a great passer but way to many faults in her game, the interest will wear off of her game, but hopefully she did bring more light to wnba in future

Clark is shooting as well as Plum or Ionescu with more rebounds and assists.

"Listen I love Caitlin but..." proceeds to set out all the AR fans talking points about how she really isn't all that. Nobody who's watched her play could reasonably say she's too slow.
