I kept hearing different versions of the record so I had to look it up because it's two separate things. Someone correct me on this if I'm wrong: 1. Clark became the first rookie in the WNBA to record a triple-double. 2. Clark became the first Indiana Fever player to record a triple-double. I think Sides just conflated the two by accident in her locker room speech and reporters are fumbling over it, too.
@insertquarter
@insertquarter 6 ай бұрын
@@michaelsteven5558 Again.. Stop trying to make this a thing. Post-game Christie Sides, the coach, said "first in league history for a rookie." She might have stated first time in team history too to highlight the organization she coaches for, but don't give half facts. And "several reporters", as you say, does not make it "all", like he said. Blanket statements are dangerous, friend. Call out those several reporters who don't give her the accolade of first in league history, but credit the ones that do. Definitely don't lump them as a whole and say "all" of them.

She finally showed up against top tier competition in the league. This is a huge win for CC and the Fever. This should have been a blowout victory for the Liberty and CC showed up and showed out. Congrats to her. Finally some of ya'll casual Basketball fans have something of actual merit to cheer for her about. Its gonna be a tight race for ROTY since Angel has been playing out her mind all year as well averaging a double double for the season, has her team in a playoff position and tying a record that only the great Candice Parker has reached. But since we are finally taljing basketball when referring to CC let's be honest here..... its not surprising that she is the fastest rookie to score 350 points, she's on a team where she is the offense. Even the assist is something that should be expected, she has the ball in her hands alot because the offense is designed specifically for her. But its the rebounds that is the highlight here for me. A star scorer hitting the boards like that....now there's something to take note of. Been saying this all season, but the fact that she's NOT the best player in the WNBA YET....but she is entertaining and adjusting to every team bringing their A game for her, means that while she's still quite a ways away from averaging 28 a game like she did in college but its performances like this that shows she's learning and that she adapting to the a league that is filled with players of her caliber and some better than her. I really wish the casual basketball fans and media would let this woman grow into the baller she is rather than heeping alot of unnecessary pressure and praise on her for just existing, but its performances like this game that justify why she is considered a top tier talent whose gonna be great for a long time to come. Just wish some of ya'll could see that for as epic as this performance was, its still not A'ja averaging 26.9 points per game and 10.9 rebounds, its not Kelsey averaging 19 points per game, Breonna averaging 19.4 per game, Sabrina averaging 17 per game, Arike averaging 23.6 per gameor Napheesa averaging 20 points and 10.2 rebounds per game all on teams that are playoff bound. Its important to keep the fact that CC is not alone in that great WNBA player discussion because while CC is certainly a generational talent, whose playing....and whose not playing.....in September matters for real basketball fans.

Meanwhile the actual sports fans get caught in the crossfire anytime they say something positive or negative about one or the other. It's annoying at this point. There may have been other known athletes, but no real eye catchers like Clark. The majority of the ladies in the WNBA need to clean their game up especially their inside offensive games. Missing 3 ft jump shots and layups is disgusting and will turn off most basketball purists. You are professionals now there's no excuses for garbage play

I think the reason AR isn't as popular as Clark is because of her bad attitude and you can tell she is jealous of Clark's attention. Zip your lips and dominate like she has been for the past few weeks. AR is crazy good but that is why I think she is getting the negativity.

That is not true sorry, a part of both fanbases are doing the same thing. You should come and watch some live streams on other channels where the AR fans are continuously trying to discredit her. But you're right, both are great players. I like the CC style of basketball but AR is doing great things herself. For the ROTY it all comes down to preference now, you can't be wrong either way.

With everything that's been against her, I'm truly happy to see her rise above, play her best basketball and just absolutely dominate. And she speaks with a humble attitude which is also great.

Triple double in a win against the MVP and the team with the best record in the league. Scored or assisted for 46 out of the 83 points of the team. This is never seen before stuff in the WNBA whether people like it or not, if she keeps up this level of play she'll end up on the MVP ladder before the season is finished. Legendary stuff.

@@jto-eg7qw I mean you're taking it a hair far. How do you "play horrible" and get a triple double? If you don't want to argue, that's cool. I guess you could say Reese is better because she is .8% better in FG percentage. To me that doesn't justify being better. Clark has 50 more fga and is less than .8% behind Reese.

What a lot of people don’t realize is that it’s harder to get a double-double in pts and assists than it is pts and rebounds. To get a double double in pts and rebounds its all up to the individual. They score the points, then get the boards. But to get it in pts and ASSISTS, it’s harder because you have to have teammates that make shots off of your passes. They have the catch the pass or else its a turnover (on you) AND make the shot, the latter being something that you have no control over. So consider this when you talk about Angel Reese’s double double streak in pts and rebounds, vs a double double streak in pts and assists. The latter is more representative of a team player than a great individual player.

I assume you’re referring to the AllStar game. I agree that 3 seems too much for a mid pack team. But same could be said for Phoenix with 3 players on the Olympic team while also mid pack with a .500 record. Just the nature of the game.
