Honestly, I have to love how Aidan is his own person. He has his own story and cheeky personality. My man doesn't fall in love the moment he sees Barbie (like many others haha) and he doesn't act to please her either. It doesn't mean he's rude or unkind, he just is who he is. Matter of fact, he even ventures into the magical realm that he's never been to in hopes that the princesses were there BASED on what Genevieve told him in the garden! She never directly told him about this magical place they danced every night she only hinted it. So he figured out the gateway because he remembered her story and was smart enough to connect the dots with her dance and shoe polish! YES! Aidan and Julien are hands down the 2 best male leads in the Barbie universe. Their characters are written so well, they’re very likable, and have more to them than being Barbie’s love interest, and they have sooo much chemistry with Barbie’s characters. With Aidan, not only does his personality clash with Annika’s in the BEST way possible, but he has his flaws (which he actually acknowledges) and backstory as well. He doesn’t just get with the princess in the end and enjoys his new life that he’s created with Annika, while forgetting his family. He owns up to his mistake and eventually goes back to his home/family to try and make up for the damage he caused in the past. He’s witty and resourceful which adds another layer of depth to his character. And yes, bonus points because the guy is an amazing skater. And although we don’t really get a direct explanation of Julien’s story, we get to see so many tidbits that show us how he came to be where he was. His family was poor, so he had to work really hard to get anywhere in life. He was most likely really smart and was scouted to become a tutor for the royal family. Eventually he became best friends with the princess and fell in love with her in the process, even when he knows it’ll never lead to anything more, so he eventually distances himself from her as they grow up. Like… THIS IS SUCH GOOD WRITING 😭

"Barbie in a dream house" Ken is hands down, THE BEST KEN. Like, he's such a wonder bread of awesome and cute. His father-son relationship arch with closet is a 10/10 beauty. Hi, I'm one of the animators for as you would call it "Ken 2.0". Not for this specific movie you mentioned but for some of his other appearances. It's not canon (nor would I know if it ever will be since I don't speak for Mattel or the animation production company) but I love personally love the dynamic that him and Barbie have in this version/show. It's very caring and some of the best male role modelling (I've seen) around should young boys watch this show. I know didn't pay much attention to the Barbie franchise then when I was young but I really like what they've done with him and all of the characters now. Maybe it's just bias since I'm still working on the show, but it's been some pretty fun writing to have pleasure of bringing to life in my years of being an animator. Anyways, great list! I'm glad to see this character my friends and I have worked on is a positive in your opinion. :D

I don't know, i love many of the guys in the Barbie movies (i mean from the old ones, from the 2000-2010 or something like that), but for me it's a tie between Dominic and Aiden. I'm pretty sure he knew that it wasn't Anneliesse and he trusted Erika. More than that, he let her chase her dream and waited until she decided to return on her own. I mean, he didn't force her decision in any way. As for Aiden, he is just the kind of character that i like in general. That 'cold outside but actually warm inside' type of guy, You know what i mean? He didn't know it wasn't Anneliese but while he was initially upset with her he still went to rescue her because he had faith in her and didn't believe she was a bad person or doing it for a bad reason. You could argue though that Antonio in beginning when he met Ro just wanted to reuinte her with her family and just civilization all together and that they fell in love on the way to his kingdom. The travel montage is cut shorr but I can imagine they traveled for like a few weeks. Would have benefited their relationship if they showed a few scenes of them having conversations on the ship and getting to know each other.

My top 4 are definitely Dominik, Aiden, Derek and Julian! Dominik waits for Erika and doesn’t rush their relationship and has it move in a natural way! Also made me believe in love and that man or woman can wait for you if they love you! Aiden and Annika’s banter and he doesn’t quickly fall in love with her immediately makes me believe in love and that this banter is what you’d expect from someone you get along with or love. Derek just over all in movie helps Genevieve through throughout the movie and he builds is career/job from scratch and works for the royal family is a quality on his own! Julian is amazing in general, remembering the details, true always has a plan and helps rally and train Erika, and later Dominik to save and fight at the wedding and everything.
