It was clearly meant to be creepy. You could tell from the eyes. If they were going for an actual cute Pikachu cake they would have used just two black dots as eyes but they gave it straight up human eyes and the detailing has been done in a way to make him look drunk. I think it was made intentionally like that.

I've been doing art my entire life (less sculpting, more sketching), but that definitely looks like the kind of cheap clay they give kids in school to use in their ancient kiln for those "fun"art projects. The first dog one doesn’t even look like cake, it looks like piped piles of whipped cream! The Cinderella cake was made with the Wilton pan for that character , that’s why everything is where it should be, no stencil used.

Such a funny video! I just discovered you and your cakes. So glad I did. I made a cake for my daughter yesterday... no particular theme, pretty much experimenting but it turned out looking like a New York city subway wall. Lol she thought it looked like an abstract water color painting so I'll take that. 🤣🤣 The only critical rating I have about your ratings is that the Shaun the Sheep cake should have been a 10! It was so well executed, in my opinion. I think if you only saw it as an Easter cake then it might seem a bit strange but this was right on for what it was! Looking forward to exploring your videos!

The thing about the high evaluation of the pikachu cake is, aside from Natalie's predilection towards creepy and unsettling cake designs, is that it has gone so far toward the creepy, Tim Burton-esque aesthetic that it has moved entirely past an accidental nuclear wasteland pikachu cake fail and into "this looks intentional". And in art, intentionality is everything. By making something look as though you intended it to be that way, you move past scrutiny of its faults and into appreciation for WHY the artist made those choices. It's quite funny how that works, but it's definitely an interesting facet of art. I think it was the eyes, the human-like eyes with the bloodshot sclera, that set me to thinking that this wasn't made to look like this simply by accident. Then you begin to notice that there is remarkable consistency in how the arms and ears have a shriveled appearance. It looks like the artist meant for it to be that way.
