Fascinating. It doesn't look like Johnston's aware of the recent discoveries pertaining to Penrose's hypothesis re: quantum events in microtubules.

Sounds a like Zizek is part of the tradition, like Schelling (and Schelling's rival, Schopenhauer) of selling a crappy German version of Hindu cosmology as a new idea. But that's still more interesting than what Johnston seems to be saying. Regarding the point made at 11:10 or so about the need for Penrose's work to be fleshed out in the relevant sciences, there has in fact been fairly recent progress that opens new lines of experiment: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4monZmwi8yabK8
