This week I'm sharing my updated rich chocolate cake recipe! It's made up of velvety soft cake layers that are packed with chocolate flavor, which are paired with an indulgent chocolate fudge frosting. I’ve recently updated this recipe (April 2024), as some readers were having issues with the cake layers sinking in. I experimented with different ways to add a little more structure to the cake layers to help prevent this issue, and finally settled on an updated recipe that had additional structure, but still had the same great flavor and texture to the original. I know there are many of you who LOVE the original version, so I have kept the original quantities in the notes section of the recipe card (towards the bottom of the blog post). I want to assure you though, that the updated version (in my opinion) is even better than the original, so don’t be afraid to give it a go 😀 Get the full written recipe here: cakesbymk.com/recipe/rich-chocolate-cake/ Enjoy!

Honest to God, not only is she an absolute angel for sharing her recipes -- and for the amount of time, work, ingredients, money and knowledge that goes into this process....but her recipes are NO FAIL! They are fabulous every time. I've searched for a good vanilla cake recipe for years. YEARS. I have two that I like but once they cool, they aren't that perfect crumb, tender cake. So I tried MK's for the first time. 1000/10. KEEPER! Please protect this beautiful lady at all costs because she is an absolute life safer and blessing to all who bake! xoxox

I just made this cake for my daughter's birthday today. The cake turned out delicious and it was very easy to make. Plus it did not need the mixer and not much equipment. For the prep I used only 2 bowls and a spatula and the matrix tsp. Am happy because there are less dishes to wash! I also reduced the amount of sugar to 250g (instead of 300g) yet it still tasted a bit sweet for my tongue. It took only about 30min to bake the cake with my oven. And also I melted the butter and chocolate in the oven while the oven was preheated (did not use the microwave ). I just want to say thank you for sharing and teaching this great recipe. Btw this is another Malaysian sending you 💕

Your channel is the number one I go to for any tutorials. You explain so well and also provide substitutes. I used to avoid recipes that had buttermilk until I saw your video on it, and honestly, im so grateful. Anytime I want to bake, I search 'cakes by MK'. They always turn out so well. In this recipe, did you use evaporated milk or just regular milk? I want to make this today.
@teniolaakanmu43866 ай бұрын
Update: I ended up baking it. I used regular milk. It was so delicious. I usually don't bake the basics like vanilla, chocolate, etc . I feel they're so easy to fail as basic as they are. I'd rather bake red velvet or carrot cake. But I've used her vanilla recipe just a few days ago, and everyone loved it (they don't like vanilla cake), and today I made the chocolate. Chocolate is my least favourite flavor. But this one is the one guys. Best chocolate cake I've ever had. You're literally a blessing to the baking community, MK.

I loved your videos!! ❤ I also tried some of your recipes, absolutely lovely! I'll try to make this recipe for my brother's birthday, but i was wondering if i can use cake flour instead of regular flour? Will it make any difference?
