Great conversation. What I had hoped for the productivity discussions was a divorce from the 'Communism-Capitalism' vocabulary. Wanting a more human life pace is not a political issue. It's a spiritual issue. We have muzzled the corn mending oxens long enough. Over here where I live we experience a backlash from the younger generation to the exploitation experiences of their forefathers and -mothers. Young people have fathers and grandfathers that were let go after decades of loyalty to the firm because dad's and pop's job can be done cheaper by underpaid underdogs in some third world country. The young say 'thank you but I have seen enough'.... It's not about 'overthrowing' the economy. It's about something that can not be reflected by a big bank account. Our young people are catching on, very much to the chagrin of us older folks. It just needs the best of both worlds, which may take another 50 years.

As a pastor I ended up getting a work phone and personal phone so I am able to unplug from work texts and emails during non work hour’s. $30 a month is worth being able to engage my family. I am able to check it from time to time but if there is an emergency someone will find a way to find me.

A very “tasky” discussion with not much dialogue about people. Maybe because people interactions are often not productive or efficient? I once worked with a president who was introducing new values for the organization like productivity and efficiency. I challenged him that we didn’t have a value of effectiveness, doing the “right thing” well. The problem with effectiveness is that often it is often someone else who decides if we are effective - a customer, a child, God. I felt that this interview was missing these “other people” issues of life.
