On 4/27/20: paid .53 cent per gallon in Morris, IL. It’s getting crazy out here! Just thought I’d be fun to document the prices, for when we look back at this in the future. Good video, keep’em coming.

Pretty soon they're going to have to pay US to take the fuel off their hands lol
@JJtheTrucker4 жыл бұрын
YES, I remembered to put the fuel cap back on the reefer! LOL Like these videos? Interested in becoming a driver for Prime? Visit driveforprime.com/?r=PAUJAJ and if you sign up, tell them JJ Paulson (Driver Code PAUJAJ) sent you.

I've been pulling a refer for a while. A little trick to fueling your refer, when you pull forward and put your rear axels on your tractor even with the raised concrete on the front of the fuel island. This is usally about the right spot.
@JJtheTrucker4 жыл бұрын
I'll check that out. I'd have though that would be different at each place, but I'll give it a shot.
@seanjonas19934 жыл бұрын
Its usually a little different at each place but it will get you in the ballpark.

Me too! 😯 Yeah, I was waiting for someone to mention it. Fortunately, I remembered right as I stopped the video lol.

Do Prime lease operators have to pay for reefer fuel? That's what I got from your video. Most companies just charge it to the customer.
@JJtheTrucker4 жыл бұрын
Yes, unfortunately we have to pay for the Reefer fuel. We do get a supplement that pays for some of it. Technically the customer is billed for it in the general rate that we get.

If your going to Michigan you'll get a ticket fir your GPS positioning. Cannot be within the sweep of the drivers windshield wiper sweep. Not a Michigan law either, Michigan just enfirces it more. Don't tell me I'm wrong either. Git ticket fir it at the I-92 weigh station near Ann Arbor

I know I’m a bit late here but I love watching your videos. I’m planning on leaving for prime school next month. I was just wondering, if someone were to have their own authority and chose to do so, do the fuel islands accept regular credit cards like visa or Amex?
@JJtheTrucker4 жыл бұрын
Yes, they do. It's best to get a fuel card somewhere though. Even a co-op card with others that have their own authority can save at least $0.25 to $0.50 per gallon. Not Neary as much savings as Prime, but something is better than nothing.

What kind of GPS do you use? What are the negatives? Keep safe! I’m at 47k in my TNT training. So looking forward to my solo career with Prime!
@JJtheTrucker4 жыл бұрын
Right on Henry. Almost done. Just hang in there. I use the Garmin Dezl Cam 785. I like that I can rename the voice wake word and it's got some good detailed directions. The negatives are that it's not always accurate, even with the latest maps and software. It's a good tool, but you still need to pay attention to what you're doing and where you're going.

So when you pay for fuel it just come out of your settlement? Or do you have to physically have to have money on Comdata card? Just wondering been looking into trucking for along and still weighing options to do it
@JJtheTrucker4 жыл бұрын
It just comes out of my settlement when I get paid for that load. I love Prime's factoring. So effortless.
@TheJoker-ex5rb4 жыл бұрын

Did you need any special endorsements to drive for prime?
@JJtheTrucker4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, for some reason they wanted us to get the tanker endorsement just in case? I've never had to drive a tanker and since I'm not in that division, I never will, but they still wanted it. It was very easy to get though, so no big deal.
@someguy84984 жыл бұрын
JJ the Trucker because we can haul barrels of liquid with a combined total greater than 1,000 gallons inside the reefer trailers. Example: I’ve hauled sterilized medical water in 55 gallon drums.
@JJtheTrucker4 жыл бұрын
Ah, yeah, I can see that. Great point.
@markjacob95903 жыл бұрын
I guess you gotta take into consideration the weight of fuel on your truck to..it can put you over on a heavy load..

Yep, sure can. It's not often, but it can happen.

How or what app do U look at to find cheap fuel
@JJtheTrucker4 жыл бұрын
I use the Prime app for that. Prime gets deep discounts and they have it all mappe out on their app. They also have a macro I can run on my Qualcomm that will read my current fuel amount and recommend the best stop for me based on routing, prices, taxes, tolls and a bunch of other factors. It's almost too easy.
