I teach four simple types of integrals to my classes before covering more involved techniques. Basic Type 1: Power Rule for Integrals Basic Type 2: If (d/dx)f(x) = n*f(x), n is a number, then the antideruvative of f(x) = (1/n)*f(x)+c. Or if the derivative ONLY multiplies your function by a number then the antiderivative divides your function by the same number. Basic Type 3: If you have a ratio, ask "Is the top the derivative of the bottom?" If yes, then the antiderivative of the ratio is ln(|bottom|)+c (I see no obvious composition in g'(x)/g(x) to indicate u sub. Recognizing the logarithmic derivative form (d/dx)ln(|g(x)|) = g'(x)/g(x) and reversing it negates the need for u sub) Badic Type 4: Known Derivative: recognize you have the derivative of something and reverse it such as cos(x) is (d/dx) sin(x). So the antiderivative of cos(x) must be sin(x)+c

Can you do a video about complex numbers sometime? What I mean is this. The way I see it, math is a system of symbols and operations that very often (but not always) find useful applications in the real world. Some elements of math directly correlate to the real world, for example the number "3" can clearly represent 3 apples. Negative numbers don't directly correlate -- I've never seen negative apples -- but they represent a concept like "fewer apples", which is not too difficult to understand. But what about complex numbers: do they represent anything in the real world? Or are they simply a concept in mathematics that happens to be useful in deriving real-world results, but themselves have no representation in the real world?

Sir can you solve one sum for me. My sum is prove that mean kinetic energy of a particle of mass m moving under a constant force;in any interval of time,is 1/6(u1sqare+u1u2+u2square), where u1and u2 are initial and final velocities. Show that it is greater than the kinetic energy at the middle of interval and less than that when the particle is half way.

@polaris_babylon6 жыл бұрын
Fredde I think is just the change of variable, cause these aren't miltivalued functions...

But lets consider this: The vector [dx; 0]=[dx/du , 0; 0, 1]*[du; 0]. So the length of vector [dx; 0] is related to the length of vector [du; 0] with the determinant of [dx/du, 0; 0, 1] as a scaling factor of [du; 0]. In other words dx=(dx/du)*du :> (or ?)
