The light is a safe haven I’m pretty sure it heals you as well as stops them obviously from seeing you but I think they can break it sometimes

Also I only watched recaps but from what I know He can’t write whatever he wants neither can scratch write because The dark place controls him when’s he’s writing he barely keeps control to think most the writing is the dark place using his brain that’s why it wanted him a novel writer popular one too so it can use his creative brain to create dark vile things at certain points you see him fighting for control but it’s slowly controlling him it’s like sleep writing and trying to wake up it is using his brain so it’s still like he wrote it just dark vile things it wants Scratch can’t write either…

@@ether2788 yeah he can't write any thing he wants he needs to make the story closer and accurate to the real world that's why things like superstition, urban legends and crime cases works best in his story The more similar the story and real world are, the more it will affect the real world

22:54 so the character on the cover of this book is Dr. Casper Darling. He's a character from the game, CONTROL. He's played by actor Matthew Porretta. He is also the voice of Alan Wake (has been since rhe first game). Alan Wake is the result of two actors working together. While Porretta is the voice, Finnish actor Ilkka Villi plays Alan in all the live-action clips (what he says is dubbed over by Porretta in post), and does mocap for the character. It's a pretty interesting way to play a character. Not unusual to have the face model and voice actor be different for a character (Dina from TLoU2 had her face based on Cascina Caradonna, but was mocapped and voiced by Shannon Woodward). But things are certainly complicated when you ask the face model actor to do the mocap AND play the character in live action stuff, and then have the voice actor dub over all that.

38:50 oh btw roshi, all the songs featured in this game were specifically made for this game. You shouldn't get any DMCA claims. The game's audio director worked hard to ensure that those claims don't haopen. So, take your time and listen to the songs as they relate to what's going on in the story (plus they are just genuinely good songs), even if you do end up snipping them out of the video. But yeah, ideally you'd just leave 'em in ;)

The dude is the most intriguing mad scientist I've seen in media in recent memory. Also I did not know they were gonna include Ahti the Janitor in the game! I LOVE the look of the Dark Place's version of New York. Looks like someone spilled Taxi Driver (1976) all over this video game haha That merged with Sam Lake's face projected over the city and James McCaffrey's voice booming over a dark New York... I'm SO ready for the Max Payne 1&2 remakes.

23:05 and they are played by band Poets of the fall in dark dimension Alan travels. They performed all songs of Old gods of Asgard in Alan Wake 1, Alan Wake american nightmare, Control and Alan Wake 2. Vocalist of the band is friend of founder and director/story writer of Remedy Sam Lake(character model of Casy is his face basically). Alex Casy is basically Max Payne(another game series of Remedy, but Rockstar have rights to it). Sam Lake gave his face to Max Payne as well. So, back to them being friends - Poets of the fall performed songs for almost all games of Remedy because of it, Max Payne 2 famous end credits song the late goodbie, and vocalist played one of the characters in max payne.

@@charliebaker1427the whole thing with Alan/Zane (and by extension Scratch) is its own can of worms and a completely different situation. It is very explicitly made clear in AWAN, a little bit in Control, and multiple times in AW2 that you can’t make something out of nothing. You CAN’T create other people just because they’re characters in the story, those people already have to exist. What you CAN do is influence those people’s lives, their decisions, and situations around them as long as it makes sense within the narrative and the genre of the story.

1:14:06 had a feeling you'd find him here! Now, he can also be found in a room out on the building rooftops in the dark place... The place you were exploring earlier in order to get a second light for the subway station. I'd recommend going back there and finding him on the rooftops as he will mark the locations of all the words of power and some supply stashes (and maybe even some echoes) for you. You def wanna be as strong & stocked as you can be moving forward.

A lot of the text on the posters (for ex: "its not like your stories are good anyway. Cheap thrills and pretentious shit. That's all you're good for.") are either lines of dialogue or excerpts from manuscript pages from the first game. There are some exceptions, tho. For example, one poster has text about Thornton and Mulligan who are characters from this game.

Sam Lake is the original creator of Max Payne and also the face model for him. Alex Casey is Max Payne in all but name because Remedy lost the rights for Max Payne games and cant use them for this. Had they had the rights, Max Payne would literally be in this game as it unites all games Remedy made to date. The same way how Sheriff Tim Breaker is a stand in for Time Breaker from Quantum Break because Microsoft owns rights to that game.

The Janitor Ahti/Ati is the first person you meet in Control that helps you get started. You interact with him a great deal in Control but yea. The overlap and call backs to Control are insane in this game.

How y'all running out of ammo you guys are probably missing like half the damn supply boxes LMAO, I never ran out of ammo and I played it on Hard. Something I learned to do much later on in the game is to use the map. When you run near stuff even if you miss it it shows up on the map, like containers and supply boxes you can open. Also headshots lol, I notice it takes like 2-3x as many shots to kill an enemy with body shots. Though you're on controller so I can't really fault you on that too much.
