Devs were lying their asses of when they said you van jump right there's so much that flies over your head if you have no prior knowledge and it's low key not enough to know the first games story cause pretty much every game this studio has made is represented in this game

appreciate you guys doing that! just a simple recap will DEF improve your experience. But yeah, the TRUE experience will only be achieved by playing... well, kinda all of the studio's games haha. But mainly Alan Wake 1 and CONTROL as they are directly canon to this one.

Nah, I think playing AW2 without playing AW1 and Control is taking away a lot from the experience. AW2 is a great game on its own, but its story deeply rooted into those previous games. And then there is Max Payne, first game particulary, which is not connected to AW story, BUT AW2 has such an amazing meta refference to MP, it definitely enriches the experience too. Even if you are not going to play all those games, it is strongly recommended to watch some story analysis videos not only for AW1, but also for Control and Max Payne 1-2.

Lil tip: the manuscript pages have more text on them than what is read out to you in cutscenes etc. The cutscenes only have a select few lines. Be sure to read the whole thing in the mind place. OR you can click on a specific page in the mind place menu and Wake will narrate the whole page for you.

The guy who is the face model (also did mocap for the character) for Saga's partner, Alex Casey, is Sam Lake. He has been writing and creative directing too) Remedy games since Death Rally and Max Payne. He creative directed and wrote this game, too (there are some additional writers too). His face was ALSO the face of Max Payne in the first game! He didn't voice Max Payne OR Alex Casey, tho. That's James McCaffrey.
