@@vanilla5554 Its not his type of game, its an amazing game of its genre but Alan Wake 2 is better for streaming within a few videos or so. Baldur's Gate 3 will take forever like Zelda. I wouldnt expect them to finish it even if they choose to stream bcuz its a long game. JS, I appreciate this game being streamed more than all of the goty nominees personally.

It's a damn shame that they got snubbed for a best performance nomination at The Game Awards. Here's hoping they get some recognition for their work at some other major award show.

Poets of the Fall (and their fictional band counterpart, Old Gods of Asgard) have been SHREDDING in Remedy games since Max Payne 2. Lake was friends with the lead singer of the band and asked them to write a song for the end of that game: "Late Goodbye". This was the band's very first single. Makes me very happy that they've continued to collaborate 😊

It's crazy that Baldur's Gate 3 might be in trouble taking the GOTY crown because of a musical number. I know Alan Wake 2 is more than that but it was so unique and ballsy to take such a risk and just nails it.

I would LOVE for AW2 to win GOTY but i think Baldurs Gate will win it. Alan Wake 2 should have no trouble winning best Narrative, Music, Audio Design and Direction

Alan Wake 2 is already my personal game of the year and I’ve played everything this year (RE4, Zelda, Diablo, spider man) EXCEPT BG3, I’ll get around to it. I predict Zelda will take the title though I didn’t enjoy it as much despite zelda being my favourite franchise. Whatever the case I’ve been gaming since the 90’s and I don’t think we’ve ever had a year like this for gaming. The real winners in 2023 are all of us.

Baldur's Gate absolutely deserved the GOTY award. It was literally so good that other devs voiced the narrative of "don't hold the rest of us to that standard".

The lady that appears on the TV in the Zane cutscene is Jesse Faden, the protagonist of Control. Remedy really made a whole extended universe that works on "whatever bullshit we decide to write, we'll put in the story", and it's magnificent.

There's also a reference to Remedy's other game "Quantum Break". Tim Breaker's actor, Shawn Ashmore, was in that game and so was Jesse's actress Courtney Hope. On one of the boards by Tim in the Dark Place, he mentions a dream where he says he remembers the red-headed woman and that Door seems familiar, as his role is similar to the role Lance Reddick (RIP) played in Quantum Break, Martin Hatch.

Tim Breaker refers at 1:20:00 to Quantum Break. Another game by Remedy. Mr. Door supposed to be played by Lance Reddic. But he died early this year. And Lance Reddic was also in Quantum Break. That's why Tim Break feels connected to Mr. Door somehow. Because Breaker and Mr. Door are both coming from an another reality from Quantum Break.

Well, yes and not. Mr. Door is (most likely) supposed to be the Remedy verse counterpart for Mr. Hatch, but he technically isn't Mr. Hatch, as they have no rights to the IP of Quantum Break. Same goes for Alex Casey being Alex Casey instead of Max Payne.

This is the best playthrough of the musical section that I've seen on KZbin. You knew when to stop and watch, then continue playing. You also proceeded through without getting stuck or hung up and you knew when to comment! Great job!

I remember seeing an interview where Sam Lake, the creative director at remedy, said he was glad Alan Wake 2 took 13 years to get made because if they had managed to make it earlier it wouldn't have been this game and I couldn't believe that he could be glad about the hell his game had been in for so long until I got to the fucking rock opera. This rules so much and I'll be so mad if it doesn't win GOTY.

If they made the game earlier, we might have just played as Alan in The Dark Place. No Bright Falls. No connection to other Remedy games except for Max Payne. Basically it's like American Nightmare but longer.

BG3 will still take GOTY, simply because of the hype and its huge middle finger to the stagnating industry. But I can't see the world, where AW2 doesn't sweep most of the awards. Creativity, direction, graphics, narration in all of those aspects it is a major contender.

I want to say thanks to sam lake for going against the people who said to remove from the game,this part with poets of the fall, It was the best part/ the most fan and enjoyable part and also very unique, i haven't seen again something like this in any other game, i loved it!! I think Tim Breaker when talking about his vivid dreams is about the Quantum Leap game (also made by Remedy) which the same actor is the lead character in.

I swear I remember them saying something about Quantum Break not technically being connected due to publishing (Microsoft being the QB publisher, Epic Games being the Alan Wake publisher). I could be misremembering but I think it's a similar thing which Max Payne being owned by Rockstar Games -- either way there's NO WAY you're going to have a character that is all about breaking time in one game and the same actor in another game being "Tim - e Breaker" and it not basically be the same guy. Just like Alex Casey IS May Payne but legally not due to rights, Tim Breaker totally IS Jack Joyce. Publishing rights are as wonky at the FBC, I swear to God lol

Just don't use the actual copyrighted material, and Microsoft is fine with it. I mean, in the We Sing portion, there is a section with Shifter written on the floor, another reference to QB.

Right, like I said basically the same situation with Max Payne in that they can't blatantly name drop it but they can allude to it as much as they want. Like I said, he might not technically be Jack Joyce, but he's definitely Jack Joyce. Essentially Alan Wake, Control, and Alan Wake II are all canonically connected while Quantum Break and Max Payne aren't solely because of rights issues. Without those rights concerns, though, they certainly would be all connected. I've seen _a lot_ of people be confused on that specific technical detail, but I know in all the fans head-canon Alex is Max and Tim is Jack. Even the *real world* overlaps and "bureau of control" play into the lore if you catch my meaning. It's too meta lol @@CorporalCookie

Look for Alex Casey billboards. They often have an echo around/near them. I forget if you get an achievement for finding and viewing all 6 Alex Casey billboard shadows, but they are VERY cool. James McCaffrey's brooding dialogue + Lake's face booming over this noir-heavy New York cityscape... It is essentially a lil tease for the upcoming Max Payne 1&2 remakes lol
