All the Science Ship event choices with results in Chapter 2
Since the Science Ship event choices are predetermined, and not randomised, I have made this guide for you in case you want to know what Event choices does what. This is both for players who are not interested in saving and reloading to explore these choices themselves, and for players who maybe don't remember what the various choices do in later playthroughs.

About the Game

IXION combines city building, survival elements and exploration, into a thrilling space opera as you explore the stars. Propelled onwards through a perilous journey, you are the Administrator of the Tiqqun space station, charged with finding a new home for humanity.

Regarding Chevy planet, you can upgrade the cargo ship with weather resistance tech. Without it, the cargo ship breaks apart very closely to the weather hazard's farther edge (assuming the Tiqqun was not moved at all from the start of the chapter). Beware though, as the cargo ship will redirected through the weather to pick up mined resources after delivering alloy for the event. Safest bet is to cancel all resource priorities for it so it would return to colony vessel along the same route.

Spoliers : The crew that was replaced at Rockatansky D79 can reappear at a similar events. You will on multiple occasions encounter those weird spheres (with different mechanisms each time) and the last one can give you the missing crew back.

@@amateurishauthor2202 memory might be fuzzy as I finished my playthrough a week ago, but if I recall correctly yes, the event did give science, not that it matters much at this point in the game.

There are more than just two of those spheres? I only found one other, which acted like some kind of repellant. I did wonder what would happen if i took the same crew, which had interacted with Rockatansky, over to the other spheres, whether there would be sort of 'link' between them.

As an addendum to the Tatra V8 event, if you do not yet have exoskeletons researched you still get the option to board the ship, but will lose crew members.

You can repair the mining ship and reclaim it, if you research the automatic repatriation tech for your science ship first. Not sure if it was a glitch, however, but when it came back to my ship I could not get it to take another operator no matter what i did, so could not give it orders. In the end I dismantled it for the 20 polymer and just built another to replace it with said polymer.

Hey i was just playing thru this area myself last night, for the mining ship event they just updated events where you can repair the mining ship and recover it my previous save file didnt have that option dont know if it was a new patch but wanted to let you know! Keep up the grand play thru been enjoying watching you progress! ^^

If you put the Ixion at Roktansky you can avoid the storm on the way to Chevy

Not completely? I think it's still going to have a *small* red line? I went around that way myself in the episode where I did so in my LP series, and the interaction with the storm was really minor IIRC. But it's definitely the best way to go there!

Copying the Protagoras' PA allows you to change the ending (albeit only a minor detail of it) Big spoiler It allows your character The Administrator to survive the ending if you choose to disconnect Edden.

Thanks for your guide. The only thing I’d like to ask you if you know how many cycles I can be in orbit without getting penalty? In 1st chapter it was 240 cycles. Maybe you know how many in 2-nd and other chapters ? Thanks in advance

I am really enjoying your science guides to help me make choices as I go through the game Have you considered, updating new/revised guides with what you have learned? For example, tech upgrades like exoskeletons which you DO mention... and the option to repair mining ship from DO-G0202?(not even sure this is related to tech upgrade, I sometimes get it as an option, sometimes not)... and science ship repatriation for Rokatansky D79 with 'Automatic Ship Repatriation' tech Also, I think it might be helpful if you show map prior to each encounter in guide OR in the intro a screenshot of all the planets/POI's Thank You for your work on guides :)

6:30 You can safely recover all cryopods if you if send a cargo ship along with the science ship. Although i'd be worried about storage/feeding that many people. (You could easily get a cargo ship if you dismantle the Ishabi in the prologue)

You finish the Protagoras objectives and collect everything from it. Wait a little bit and then you get a new objective diamond.

If you download Dolos from the Protagoras, it gives you a potential minor difference at the end of the game. It only changes a cutscene and it alters whether or not your character would be implied dead or alive.

At what point does it give you the option to actually *do* that difference? When I got to end of game after downloading the P.A., I didn't get any option...

@@charlesccj5 I think it may depend on if you go to Romulus or Remus. I think if you have it and go to Remus it will automatically do it, where as you need to chose to do it at Romulus.

That is very true, but not for the morale/trust hits. I am aware of later chapter events being .. interesting .. in this regards - but since I am presenting these videos as a "best outcome short term", that's why I am phrasing it as I am. The Science Event choices is one of the main replayability factors in the game, since you can get very different results across games if you choose differently, and I also talk a bit about it in both the previous chapter video and this one: How things affect the long-term story .. that's something people will need to find out by playing through it. I don't want to spoil it completely. 😊

The fact, that you can´t even guess the results in most cases is awfull design given the little info on every option. There should be clear outcome choice like in Frostpunk. If you have to look up results on the internet instead of enjoying the play, something is wrong.

Rokatansky. research Automatic Ship Repatriation. Then you can purge the crew, and the ship will come back to station automatically.
