Have been watching for a couple years now. Being a city girl, I like watching farming life (all of my grandparents were farmers in Oklahoma). Seeing how hard you work makes me that much more appreciative of the life my grandparents lived. But my favorite part is watching a father and son together. You can’t fake a relationship like the one you two have.

Thanks for another great video Cole and Brian. It was interesting and informative. Nice work on fixing that water tank. Sorry your working conditions are bad with all the wet weather. You did a great job on that water tank. Once again, my compliments to both of you for the way you run your calving program. You both are fine herdsmen. You really take care of the calf and mother cow in an outstanding manner. Appreciate the way you do your best to get them inside to calf. And if not you give the calf his first sled ride. Great way to run your program. The way you are doing naming the calf is an outstanding way to recognize your viewers. You are doing a great job with naming your calves. Nice thing to do. I hope your weather drys up soon. Know the muddy conditions make things hard for you. Hang in there. Thanks for everything. You both take care and be safe. Thanks. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

I used to be an Organic Dairy Farmer running 350 cows and we had up to 800 head of all ages at one time. We always named all the heifers and cows and everyone had a unique name rather using a number to ID them. I had a FT employee who could identify everyone in the milking herd (320) by the look of their rear end/udder. Calving twice a year was always fun...😬

My mothers name was Rosemary, she went by Rosie, I grew up knowing her as a stay at home Mom, of course being the 5th of 5 a LOT happened before I came along but I believe she was the moral compass for my family and helped instill those Great values in me and my siblings. The strongest memory I have of what she said was and I quote " If you don't have anything good to say than keep your dang (yes dang NOT damn) mouth shut !!! " If you see this message and chose her name I would be more than honored, If you see it and chose another I completely understand, after all your not having thousands of calf's :), if you miss this comment than one might think you have more to do than sit at a computer all day, Who woulda thunk it LOL, I love your program, please keep teaching the world /your viewers about the life of the farmer who creates the food that we all enjoy, Stay safe always, John.

Brian and Cole you got me in trouble on Facebook They had a couple of kids dragging a calf back to the barn in a sled and I said while it was great the really needed to get the calf back to the barn quicker so they should use a vehicle.well Facebook blew up,about how mean I was to those kids but I stood my ground surely somewhere on that farm they had a vehicle and could attach a sled to it and mama would follow. My point was there was plenty of time for the kids to learn about raising calves after they got it out of the snow

@@waynejones5239 maybe they could have traded one of those kids in for a tractor ? I’m joking of course but the kids had to run a mile dragging the sled with a good size calf that was born in the snow and shivering. I know not all farms have the equipment Sonne farms have but sure they have some vehicle that moves faster than two preteen kids l. The calf is more valuable than the kids feelings

I like how Brian never takes his eyes off Cole when he works on a calf. I recall the time when I was about 12 years old being on the farm with my Cousin Len. We were both in the back of a red Ford 1/2 ton. We had a sickly calf in the back with us and the mother cow took a run at the pickup truck. My Uncle George was having far too much fun watching the size of our eyes as big as saucers as the cow moved the back of that truck over a couple of feet out in the pasture.

Hi Sonne family! What a great start to the claving season. All tied up…3 and 3. I wanted to tell y’all what your channel means to me. I am my mom’s caregiver. She has lung cancer which the only treatment she has chosen was removal of half of her left lung. She has active nodules on the remaining portion and right lung. She also has dementia, heart disease, strokes, COPD, an aortic aneurysm and major body deconditiong. I won’t bore you with the minor things. I have siblings, two bothers, one who is a US Marshal working with Interpol. The other who lives 5 minutes from me is an active addict and I don’t trust him. I take care of my mom, her large house(cleaning out the hoard) our pets, starting a small business and if I have time…me. Thankfully my kids are 21 and 19 but I make myself available for them too. Your videos have been an absolute lifesaver for me in more ways than I can explain. You ALWAYS make me smile and laugh. I have grown a huge appreciation for all that goes into farming. I’m very sure you have a huge list of name requests and I congratulate all those who get their name chosen. I wouldn’t be asking for me (Jackie) I would be asking for my mom Susan. My love for cows came from her. We would spend many hours at UCONN while I was little staring at the cows or in the dairy barn of the Eastern States Exposition (huge New England fair) doing the same. If by chance there is room on the list it would be so touching to her and I, however I completely understand. I continue my prayers for a safe rest of winter and for calving…oops…claving season🙏🏻❣️🙏🏻

Very special person to the whole entire county of Jefferson County Tennessee. His death made the local news. He was a special person. When I was working for a very small railroad in Montpelier, Vermont many years ago, we had to repair a short branch that was subsiding which serviced the state liquor warehouse. The soil was clay, it was very wet and was filled with two inch crushed rock. Well, I mean to tell you (sound familiar?) if you got two tablespoons on the tip of your shovel after grunting and swearing and kicking; you got a lot. The old Barre and Montpelier Railroad.

Awesome video Cole. Brian is only falling behind because he's not picking his feet up high enough to get through the mud and slop 🙃. Keep warm and stay safe guys. 🐂🐂🐂

good to see the calving has started well and some cracking calves appearing , let hope it continues like this , so good when you come back to check them and the calf has been born and up on its feet getting that colostrum , great stuff as always both

Have been watching your channel for several years and love the content you do. Would lovecto have a bull calf named after my father that I lost August 28th last year. May God bless you and the job you do.

As a cow/calf producer in NE IA I enjoy watching how other farmers/ranchers do things differently. Much better then anything on TV. If you would happen to name a bull calf Ed, I'd be very interested in purchasing him as a breeding bull next year long as he makes the cut. Been wanting to try your bulls for a couple years now. Thanks best of luck for rest of your calving season.

It is so wonderful to watch these calves being born. I have been a loyal member of your you tube channel for 3 years now. It would be a honor to name a heifer after my name Lynn. We lived on a dairy farm and my father also named his cows and calves. Hoping you have drier weather. Its tough to get around but you make it work. God bless and stay healthy.

I helped my uncle on his gurnsey dairy farm. We had over 100 heads, and my uncle could name every one of his cows and calves. Thanks for the videos!

If you ever have to dig out a water tank again, you might try potato forks. - All that smeary manure gives me some negative flashbacks! If you have access to sawdust or chips within a couple hundred miles, it might help keep the cattle a little more comfortable, and it adds nutrients to the soil that adds to what you grow.

My middle daughter, she's 9. thinks "baby cows are just adorable daddy!", I think she would be beyond happy if you might could find a cute little girl to name Nora Leigh. It might just make a little girls day!

I would be honored to have a clave named after me. Preferably a bull calf that just has an odd look to him. Like he's a few fries short of a Happy Meal. I identify strongly with that kind of calf.
