Chet ain’t wrong…I’m remodeling my house and the master bedroom is in the guest room, the new flooring in boxes is in the dining room, the master bathroom is in the dumpster (the main job now), my tools are in the attic, crawlspace, dining room, and the master bedroom. At least I know the clean clothes are in the laundry room (and dryer), AND my kitchen is clear, can’t block access to the food, hehe. Oh, and dust is everywhere! Somehow I still find time for KZbin 😁

Chet, there is a debris shield kit available from deere to prevent the stalks from getting into the brush. Also, at the end of the season, remove the brushes from the cartridge and then lay them flat in a tote. Also, remove the bowls from the meter to prevent them from staying in one spot. Hopefully, your dealer did the downforce sensor pip and the downforce solenoid pip to it.

You'll love the JD high spd setup. Less plastic gears and much bigger electric drive motors compared to precision. Also I think the brush belt holds the seed better for higher speeds than the rubber belt that precision uses.

Thanks for another great video Chet. It was interesting. Sorry about your bin auger coming apart. You all got it apart so you can repair it. Or figure out what to do with the current auger system. Little Bob was a big help here. Let’s us know how it goes on fixing it. Your new used planter is getting new parts and a cleaning and lots of adjustments. You all are doing great with it. Getting it ready for spring. About it I guess. You all take care and be safe. Thanks for everything Chet. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

By the looks of things you may want to keep the other pig barn. Convert it into more pull in storage. As we see thunder and play toys made it into chemical building 🤷🏻‍♂️😉😂 Use the current one for chemicals and make the other for seed. There is plenty of real estate there to put a loading dock in. Not sure if there is fertilizer in chemical storage. But that and thunder full of diesel in same building bad idea for sure.

Two things to keep an eye on with that new DB. One is the lug-nuts and spacers on the carriage wheels. And two, the most important part is the frame under the bulk tanks. I had problems with both and Deere has had my planter trying to figure out how to fix it for 6 months. It’s a year old planter.

Another great video. I’m not a farmer, but enjoy watching and learning what you guys do. Don’t know what the difference is between the NT and DB model planters are, but was told one time that guy in Jefferson, IA named Bauer had developed some after market product for John Deere planters. Deere liked whatever it was and bought his patent from him. As part of the deal the guy wanted his name on the planters that used his design. They agreed to the DB model.

When I was trucking and hauling farm machinery some of the farms and most dealers had outdoor loading docks that are a retaining wall at grade level with an earthen or even concrete ramp built up behind it. They usually were at 48" and 36" heights next to each other to accommodate different deck height trailers. If you dig a depression at grade for a dock you have to worry about drainage whereas building on top of grade, no water problems. From what I've seen you have all the equipment to build earthen dock. Recommend bolting a 6x6 to retaining wall for shock absorption when trailers bump the retaining wall.
