C-Train is the original name of the light rail network in the Canadian city of Calgary which nowadays is known as the CTrain.
This light-metro type of urban transport / transit uses light rail vehicles (LRVs) on a mostly segregated route, although in the city centre it travels in street tramway / streetcar / trolley car mode along a transit mall which is shared with buses, city and emergency vehicles.
Using S-VHS video footage which dates from May 1993 this film shows Marlborough station, a driver's eye / forward looking view as we travel back to the city centre and the 7th Avenue South transit mall - which is a 'free fares' zone.
Also seen is the Plus 15 (+15) elevated walkway system where it crosses the transit mall and a double deck / two floor (+15 and +30) elevated portion of the walkway system. This extensive weather protected walkway system (heated in the bitterly cold winters, air-conditioned in the hot summers) offers pedestrians a more comfortable way to walk around the central core of the city. By eliminating road traffic / pedestrian conflict it also improves road safety.
