Calgary council looking at closed transit security system

I live in Vancouver and we have faregates. Faregates do NOT improve safety or fare evasion really for that matter. We have people constantly barging through the gates or following someone in. We need more Transit Security. Faregates only stop honest people who legitimately forgot to buy a fare.

calgary and edmonton should have had security systems LONG ago.... cameras, non stop police patrolling or security guards that care.

@@Vortexone112 Here are a few examples: The carrying of knives or any other defensive tool/weapon for the purpose of self defense is illegal (If you do you will be criminally charged with Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose), Pepper spray and Tasers are prohibited under Canadian law and so is CCW unless you can specify prove to the RCMP that you deserve the "privilege" of being allowed to effectively defend yourself in public. Please tell me how self defense isn't criminalized in this country. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@Vortexone112 Oh and let's not forget the numerous cases of home/self defense in which a home owner has the audacity of defending themselves from a home invader using deadly force only to then be arrested, charged and drag before a court like they are the criminal.
