Prices have gone crazy after 2021 in Calgary and now it's happing in Edmonton as well. My apartment in calgary downtown was $1000 in 2020 , now they want $1850 for same unit.

I have a 2br2wr parking new condo unit was planning to sell it’s in the market for 4months no luck selling… might consider renting it

We just got our renoviction notice and we are looking anywhere and everywhere for a 2 bedroom basement apartment and it's so expensive, we don't even make equal minimum wage in the country, I can't understand the prices are so expensive it's heartbreaking. I need a hope and prayer right now looking for a place, we had rented our place for 14 years now and it sold and the new owner wants us out to make more money. Like who hands out the renoviction on the 9th of the month, like I know we are so gauged and we are so scared right now, and can't find anything in a affordable price. Now I'm terrified of what could happen to us and my family isn't looking good, pray we don't end up homeless like the rest of the tent community which is so sad for Canadians. Is heartbreaking. Calgary is suckling the life out of the people who live here. Don't move here, we live here and can't find anywhere to go. ✌️ 💛 🇨🇦

What parts of downtown would you say are sketchy? I’ve seen some deals in Chinatown and it looks good on the map but no idea what it’s like on the ground?

What do you define sketchy? Not going to lie, most areas now due to inflation have a lot of homeless population. Throughout downtown in all areas and throughout inner city of Calgary. This is just based by my experience. Chinatown has lots to offer but does not have high rises and has older buildings from my knowledge. It’s also beside Eau Claire which is a nice area and close to a lot of restaurants and shops!

Eau Claire, beltline, Victoria park, mission would be my top picks! Lots to offer in these areas ☺️

absolute insanity how we are just supposed to go along with how prices are being gauged these days. no wonder people are moving away from canada, it is not worth the sacrifice. Boring shoeboxes and "luxury" dwellings with mcdonalds on the side..this will be 2k and don't forget to tip your landlord
