Hi Kev. I was wondering how you took the side Panel off where the seat belt mounts to the van. Was it easy. Also I can see you didn’t disconnect the battery whilst you was installing the rear camera part. Doesn’t your van have side curtain airbags. Wasn’t you worried the bags might go off when you was taking the panel off.

Hey Rob, to be honest i just unclipped it (it wraps around the pillar sink end) so just unclip / pull here and should just pop off so yes easy. I didnt even think about airbags but tbh i don't even think i saw any side airbags or at least were not exposed. The rear camera just plugs in with the supplied cables so no need to unplug battery etc. All the best and pm me if you need any other details if you are installing yourself.

Hi Kev, I've got a slightly different camera, but need to pull the cable through just the same… I'm struggling with feeding the rods from the front to the rear. What I can see, there is a channel above the lights, and one to the right of it against the metal. Which path did you rod through, and did you encounter obstacles? I've tried to feed through both routes, and both seem to be blocked in my situation, and can't work out if I'm doing something wrong, or a bit of brute force and perseverance is needed. Your thoughts would be helpful. Josh

Hey there - i think it is perserverance to be honest, shine a light down there from other end. You can even pop the middel light out and should see the rod coming through. All the best Josh.

Thanks for this. I've been coveting use of such a camera for similar reasons to you. May I ask how you disassembled the B-Pillar? Does it just pull off or is there a technique. Also, finally, with the unit strapped to the mirror, does it obstruct use of the clips for the front blinds - the ones sitting just above the mirror that are flipped downwards etc? Really tidy job!

Hey Paul, thanks. Yes it does obstruct the use of the front blinds but i didnt really use them anyway, used a insulated front screen instead. The B-Pillar wraps around the sides so if you push them in at the sides and then they will unclip easily, to get them back on just pull the sides around and hook back around. To be honest they came off very easily. The 24 hour recording is great though and front / back. edit also HNY :)

I have installed the same model in my T6.1 and pluged it into the cigarettes lighter in the same place as yours. After deriving for ten minutes or so my car alarm started.When I pulled the plug out of the cigarettes lighter the alarm stopped. I tried again and same thing it starts the car alarm will driving? You have any idears why and how to fix the problem. I thought maybe if I hardwire or us the other cigarettes lighter 🤔

Hi Helen, not sure could it be a low battery (think the front 12v uses the engine battery) i think alarm goes off if low battery.

Hi Kev. Can I ask another question about the dash cam you installed. I managed to fit mine recently thanks to your helpful video. My question did you hard wire yours in the end and if you did how do you test if it’s still working when the ignition has been turned off but it’s still being fed electric from the constant 12v supply. Also did you have any issues with the auto door locking when moving off. I’ve activated the setting in the infotainment centre but still can get it to work.

Hey Rob. No still hooked up to the front 12v socket. If you hard wired or using the 12v to test it working you just need to press the on off button on the dashcam mine is touch the screen bottom left this will turn on the screen so you know it is working (if you're using the same dashcam). The door locks question I take it you mean child locks? There is a button on the drivers door you press to lock doors while driving.

Hi Kev. I mean the self locking as you drive away it’s suppose to lock all the doors at 9 mph just can’t get mine to work. I have the halo view dash cam which is slightly different to yours I think. I’ve hard wired mine so it has a live feed to it all the time so if someone bumps you in the supermarket let’s say it records it. I’ve tap my camera when the ignition is off but it doesn’t wake. I used to be good at this stuff when I was younger.

Good to know it can be done and good for driving camera. Does yours not have a reverse camera anyway ?
@andybearyaki
@andybearyaki 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, yes it does come with the reverse camera but i wanted something extra when the kids seats or the back is stuffed with c*ap :) then i can see out the back while driving. Also the 24 hour recording is great as it looks like the T6.1 12v socket at the front uses the leisure batteries so can keep it running.

Good work, how did you attach the camera to the back of the overhead cupboard?
@andybearyaki
@andybearyaki 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Damian it is just using 3m tape that comes with it. I didn't want to drill any holes or do anything like that so trying to keep it as clean as possible.

Hey Steve i think this is only perm when you use that front 12v as it is always on. However i have had no issues with the battery drain as long as you tap bottom left of screen to turn only the screen off when you get in and out for rear view screen while driving. - if you dont need the rear view screen on then it will just record in the background and not really drain your battery down.

Hi can you give some info on how you hardwired it please?
@andybearyaki
@andybearyaki Жыл бұрын
Hey, it isn't hardwired as such it uses the 12v socket at the front of the van, i think i noted it in the video (the 12v socket which is by the front windscreen) - however i am sure it is also simple to hardwire using a fuse connector to the existing fusebox and using the ground on the side of the dahsboard by drivers door i think) - easier to use 12v :)

Hi there, what I don't understand is at the beginning of the video you rearview mirror dashcam is on while the 12V front socket seems to be unplugged ? Else it is maybe plugged somewhere else on the dashboard ? Out of curiosity why not hardwiring it to the fuse box ? I noticed a few comments on Amazon website mentioning battery drain, is that the reason ? Are you not interested in the parking mode which implies to use the hardwiring kit ?@@andybearyaki
@andybearyaki
@andybearyaki 7 ай бұрын
Hey, i had it plugged into the below cig lighted for testing :) I didnt hardwire as the front 12v is always live so does enable me to record 24hrs, my battery would probably drain after 1 week if i didnt run the engine in winter however in summer i have solar so would keep battery topped up no problem.
@zetoune123
@zetoune123 7 ай бұрын
ok thanks for this :-) So from your perspective the cig lighter on the dashboard uses the engine battery but the 12v front socket by the windshield uses the leisure batteries ? I was thinking about hardwiring it but I am starting to consider the windshield front power socket could be a smarter option (more battery power as leisure batteries if I understood right and the simplicity to just unplug it while in secured location to avoid draining the battery).... Thoughts ? @@andybearyaki
