I was bullied in high school. Kids don't realize how life changing it can be, from lack of motivation to lack of self esteem. I went through it.
@steviem52793 жыл бұрын
I was too my freshman year in High school and it wasn't fun to go through, I was small, skinny, and shy and that was that. I went to a Catholic school and it bothered me so much that I was looking for every excuse to stay home because I knew what waited for me from that one particular student. What I didn't know was that student lived in my cousin's town and my cousin was a year older but he was strong and on his schools football team. So one weekend I was at my cousin's house and we went out to meet up with a few of his buddies and at that particular hangout spot for kids in the town the bully just so happened to be there. I got a bit scared and my cousin noticed it and I mentioned that was the person that was bullying me, he told me not to worry. So, Monday came and the bully came over to me and apologized and to be honest, I had no idea why until I found out that my cousin had threatened him not to do it again and from that day on, I was never bullied again. The point is, I was healthy and it wasn't something that was fun to go through, no imagine what this young lady must have went through dealing with her condition and then having to be bullied at the same time...horrible.

While as a kid it was devastating, yes, I found that once I had this epiphany around the age of 14 of hey I only have to endure these brain dead idiots until I’m done with high school... it kind of created a light at the end of the tunnel and didn’t bother me anymore. Probably because of that. What I noticed is that females experience a way different form of bullying. It's more mentally damaging than physical and often it's based around someone's looks, money or other material things. That's what I noticed from both of my sister's experiences at least. We males usually deal with physical abuse mostly and ironically because of that it seems to get resolved quicker.

@@obbavyakti5805, agreed. My main rule is to never judge someone for something that is not their fault and is far beyond their control to fix. Making fun of someone born a cripple is just plain disgusting. Someone who became a cripple from having an accident that was clearly going to happen if they went through with it, is not on my list. Someone who thinks that a motorcycle looks cool and ends up screwing their body for the rest of their life because they made an obviously bad decision gets a lot less pity from me, not saying that I would harass them, but I am less inclined to feel pity and more inclined to go: "What the hell did you think would happen from driving a motorcycle on an uneven road without a helmet?".
@cravinbob3 жыл бұрын
No, peer pressure is the most powerful and negative force in school. Many that join in on the teasing and bullying are feeling pressure from outside and inside to be aligned with others. They are too frightened to stand up or defend a victim as they will suffer the same bullying. You need to learn to judge others such as someone who is much older offers you a ride you need to size them up and listen to your instincts. What you are trying to say is we should not PASS judgement on others. But judging is a survival tool. Do not forget either that "stranger danger" is mostly bullshit and most young people will be molested, harassed, etc by a family member and more children are murdered by their parents not strangers. More children die per year in swimming pools than have been killed in all school shootings, over 3,000 per year drown. The young lady who is bullied is tougher than most and her condition requires the healthy portions of her body to work harder. She has a wonderful smile and I am sure she accepts her condition as a part of who she is. The others are the ones who are mentally challenged and cannot accept her condition, they probably wish the school would do something about the bully.
@Swarmah3 жыл бұрын
@@thewonderfullymadejaraid7015 well, motorcycle crash, snowboarding fall or whatever, has so tiny chance to make you a crippled person. I ride motorcycles, i snowboard, because of 3 motorcycle crashes i have nothing, i had only bruises, and 1 was high speed crash. When falling when snowboarding, i have broken bones, but considering, i snowboard for 23 years now, every winter i go snowboarding every evening, i try to learn new tricks, each day i fall 10+ times, i have broken arm only once, jaw once and ribs 3 times, and thats it. On the other hand, my cousin was a motocross racer, he also had fallen a lot of times, and his accident was more severe, his motorcycles front tyre went off after landing, and he got 19 bones broken, and he decided to never again get on a motorcycle. I think, the chance of slipping and falling down the stairs is more likely to make you a cripple than something that seems more dangerous. About bullying. In a class, its enough to have 1 kid, who looks like badass to others, and if hes bullying someone, the others will follow, thinking they will also become cool. In this generation of snowflakes, that is just impossible to stop it. The only way how to stop a bully is by making him feel fear, the disciplinary bullshit in schools will not work. The only cure for bullies is, beating them up, making them feel powerless, making them feel fear.

My advice is make sure your son has a real friend or two - and not just because they can ward off bullies. Often, when you have a disabled kid surrounded by marvellous family/teachers/carers/chauffeurs, you miss the fact he doesn't have a friend. I know a bilingual, highly functioning lady with Down's syndrome (college education, part-time job, wonderful parents, 3 brothers, 15 cousins) who told me when she was in her late teens that she doesn't have a friend.
