You could bring a laptop and a 2 channel interface with you to shows. Just have the sound guy route a stereo signal from the mains into the interface and you're done.

I really appreciate the raw vlog format. Not everything has to be album-quality audio. It’s cool to see and hear what it’s actually like in their rehearsal room. It seems like a lot of youtubers are hesitant/scared to do that nowadays.

Btw, you could look into the portable zoom recorder to cap audio. Stereo pick up, pretty decent sound, just takes a little experimentation on mounting locations

glad your excited about doing your shows and it is always great to see someone living there dreams but L,A, is not as great as some think I have been there many times and was not impressed. Though being able to say you have played at the whiskey a go go sounds cool the fact that they make up and coming band have to pay to play there kinda sucks! But I hope you have a great trip and great show man at least you will have a few cool stories to tell when you get back because the strip is kinda off the hook! But still did not make me a fan of L.A.

Being from the east coast my first experience in California was at the whiskey and unfortunately Raymond is right. Hope for the best, but don't let a bad experience at the whiskey give you a bad taste for the west coast.

Unless they've changed policies very very recently, They don't allow any video taken, Not even from the crowd. As another person said in the comments, They run their own sound and video at their events and charge a fee to use it. There are other venues that do that as well (I personally have ran into this in my former bands) so it's always better to find out first.
