I knew a fellow guitarist about 15 years ago who was a seriously talented guy, an amazing player. Met him randomly one day at a local music shop, and it turned out we liked a lot of the same stuff and a couple of weeks later we hung out, jammed, and had a great time. The next time after that, I couldn't host at my place because of my then roommate's work/sleep schedule, but my new friend invited me over to his place. Turned out, I was an acquaintance of his roommate, a woman who I'd gone to university with a few years earlier. We had a quick hello, caught up for a second, and then she went out. Me and buddy jammed, had a productive writing session, and I went home. The very next day, in the evening, the guy called me up, and within about three seconds of me saying, "Hey man", he threatened to kill me for the transgression of making his roommate laugh, and for "flirting" with her. He was a pyscho all along, but he didn't see me as a threat in any way since our only connection was music, something at which we were equally talented, and enthused by. To be clear, he had zero romantic involvement with my university friend, but harbored a wild, possessive delusion that she was his wife, or some bullshit. His threats were enough for me to hang up and straight up call the cops on his ass. He was dumb enough to forget I knew his address, I guess. I never heard from him again, but my old friend, his roommate, told a few days later (she called me) that she had to have her landlord evict him because he went nuts after the cops visited and he destroyed his bedroom, and then apparently cried for hours. Dude was totally unstable. Anyway, you have to protect yourself, and be proactive when you receive threats. If someone threatens your life, get the fuck outta there and call the cops.

Most people, pyscho or not, get a puckered ass at the sight of cops looking for them. Touring with strangers is almost always more trouble than it's worth, I have friends and friends of friends who have been in terrible situations while filling in or joining bands right before a tour. Getting manipulated, slowly being robbed while completely unaware, getting instruments destroyed, or just straight up left on the other side of the country.

Your band mates should NOT have kept it from you, and some form of law enforcement should have been contacted at the very least! Glad you're back home safe dude! The truth is he created all the drama by being weird passive aggressive and crossing boundaries. Yes arguments took place. But nobody was plotting a murder. I've had a slightly similar situation last year where my life was threatened by a bunch of people on the internet over a meme. Without going into too much detail about my event because what's important is that you're safe now for the time being, i understand the fear of having to be on guard because my life was threatened over something minor. Just to be on the safe side bud, don't hesitate to carry with you any place that legally allows it just in case something does happen. It's always better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. I, as well as hopefully everybody watching, want you to be alright. I'm sure you're able to handle yourself man, i definitely know that you're a strong enough dude to be able to handle yourself, but just please be careful. We love ya bud, keep your head up.

This is one of the many reasons why I stopped supporting the New York Hardcore scene around the mid-90's. The NYHC scene is full of dudes like the one you described. Both the musicians and fans who attend the shows thrive on actual violence. They even go out of their way to physically hurt people with the crowd killing nonsense when they mosh. I've witnessed a lot of crazy things at shows and even worse is the fact that the behavior is normalized which is why no one seems to want to do anything about it. It's a genre that caters to ex prison convicts and sociopaths. Anyway, I am glad nothing happened to you and that you are now safe. Btw, your ex band mates are utter cowards and if anything did happen to you, they ought to have been held accountable for being complicit. I wouldn't bother with any of them ever again!

@@curtisy6234 only concern there are the differences various states have regarding open carry, or concealed carry, of firearms, carrying across state lines, or if one person in the vehicle is a convicted felon (in my state a felon cannot be in a vehicle when a firearm is within their immediate access, as an old high school friend of mine found out not long ago), but I do understand the choice to carry. I started learning about firearms at 8 years old with my father.

Someone is very jealous of you, and they resent that you have a following on youtube, and they want to bully you to make themselves feel more important. I knew a guy exactly like this, a hot head that couldn't deal with if I got any special attention over him. Anything I did I was wrong or stupid to him.
