There was another tornado(EF0) south of Santa Barbara in Carpinteria same evening . Made a mess of a trailer park and graveyard.

Thanks for the update. I guess we need to keep the coats handy for a few more days. Temps are also colder than usual here in NorCal. Should be in the high 60s - low 70s, in the upper 50s. Also, it looks like parts of Lake Tulare may reappear after being gone for 80 years.

The full 12z GFS is out and what a dramatic change it is. The storm really speeds up and now the front is expected to sweep through the bay area late Monday evening. By Tuesday noon the center of the system will be well east of California.

@@Raptor-7 It is really hard to tell right now. The new ECMWF run is also speeding up the frontal system, and it is a bit weaker than previous runs.

Thanks! Most of us are safe, just wet and cold and everything's a mess, and it's too miserable to go out and do stuff, and the kids are sick of not being able to go out and play, so they're bouncing off the walls and making the parents even more crazy. But we're safe. Lol

Hey Michael have you seen on the news where ancient Lake Tulare is reforming again for the first time in 40 years? And is expected to stick around til September. They have an excess amount of water in that part of California with no where else to put it. And the spring thaw has not even started yet. On google maps the lake is due east of Kettleman City, California in a big basin that is used strictly for farming. No farming this summer..

Meanwhile in the High Sierras that giant snowpack is just sitting there like a time bomb just ticking away. Waiting for the weather to finally warm up. But first more snow is on the way. Yesterday in Mammoth a house had a partial collaspe due to a heavy snow load. The house then fell on a propane tank which then exploded trapping 4 people and destroying the rest of the house. All 4 people are now in the hospital.

Living in California I am aware of a tornado that picked up a little girl and threw her under a car in Roseville, California back in the 80s and also several spouts East of Madera. California. These probably went unnoticed because they didn't cause to much damage. The little girl may have had minor scratches. They were not super powerful tornados but tornadoes nonetheless.

We don’t get a lot of tornadoes here in California, as they do east of the Rockies, but it’s not zero risk, they do occur sometimes. I was driving on I-5 once and one just narrowly missed us, just pounded us with big hail and high winds. The great thing about the tornado reported here is that no one was killed! We don’t have the basements or other underground shelters here that more tornado-prone areas have, I don’t know what the heck I could do if warned that one was imminent here. Other than move away from windows and doors. Should one go down to the ground floor level, or do anything else to reduce risk in that case? The fierce wind we’ve been having in San Francisco has been blowing out and shattering windows, mostly on high rises and skyscrapers, fortunately, no fatalities reported, but only minor injuries. Some streets are still littered with glass shards, I hear.

I read that it was a landspout tornado but since it shows up on the radar, must be a regular tornado. I also read it wasn't a supercell tornado.

This is great we needed the water so much in the south west i love the rain. years ago in hemet i saw a tornado touch down and pull out a line of telephone poles but it quickly broke up, my parents say they've never seen so much rain and snow its pretty nice.

Sixty-nine inches of rain fall so far in Marin Co. I know I'm getting selfish here but I'd love to see a warm dry day! It was looking like a fairly mild winter till about the middle of February when things really changed. I was looking forward to wildflowers but right now they're all soggy!
