I was born in Montebello, CA, and lived in South El Monte for the better part of my life. I miss California, but my husband and I are now living in Texas. Boy do I miss the San Gabriel Valley dirt. Loved watching your video even though it doesn’t apply to me in the area in which I live now. Thank you, and the best to you as you tend your garden.

Nice reading your heartfelt comment, thank you! Hope Texas gave you a good home, and you are able to garden there, and build something nice for your family. My good friend just moved to Texas from Oakland, East Bay. She loves it there

Thank you for this! My summer garden was an utter failure, and I'm hoping the fall/winter garden can redeem it. I'll definitely be referring back to this video as I prepare for winter in the CA Central Valley.

this video is part of my Cloverfield Farm playlist, where I went to this particular farm to film Susan, the owner of Cloverfield, who has lots of knowledge and experience with plants and gardening. So we have to give credits to her - I was just asking questions, filming, editing and maintaining the channel and the playlist. I have other videos where I myself am on camera talking about plants and showing other gardens.

Great video thank you, one of my favorite salads, a middle easter salad which is very healthy is made with fenugreek. You should make it one day since you appreciate the plant so much. Look up “Fattoush Salad” the authentic kind is made with fenugreek as the main ingredient. Romaine lettuce became a substitute because it is more readily available/affordable all year round for restaurants.

Fenugreek is the active ingredient in a product I buy from Amazon. It's a thick piece of paper that I suppose is sprayed with extract of fenugreek that you place in your produce bags and bins in the fridge and on the counter. It really works in prolonging the shelf-life of produce! The moment you mentioned fenugreek's maple syrup flavor I immediately recalled where I had encountered it before. I would imagine it wouldn't be difficult to make your own produce preserving sheets if you are growing a crop of fenugreek.
@AuthenticGardening3 жыл бұрын
Wow, this is really interesting info... I've never heard of the fenugreek extract being used as a preservative! Thanks!

I can't really sow anything right now but I have a few winter crops going. Keeping peppers outside right now here would absolutely kill them. That kale stuff survives almost everything!

I’m at 1000 foot elevation in Mendocino county and want to plant heirloom seeds for harvesting produce in Winter to early Spring. I can start the seeds in a greenhouse, but would it be better to direct seed to ground?. I’m also not sure if it’s too late to start the garden, it’s 10/17 as I write this and we finally had our first rain of the season today. The 1st frost is usually around mid November and we don’t have hard frosts here. Any tips are appreciated.
@AuthenticGardening3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brenda, it is a little late to saw seeds into the ground. You'd be safer starting in a greenhouse. It also depends on what you want to grow. For example, planting garlic directly into soil is very safe. Peas are toughenough to start in soil. But greenhouse is better for starting greens (salads, bokchoy, kale, broccoli and such), as bugs, slugs, birds and even squirrels will munch on tender seedlings

Got the marijuana growing down, now it's time to do some veggies!!!! 😁💪
@AuthenticGardening5 жыл бұрын
you should have a pretty good soil left after growing marijuana. I hope you went organic, so your veggies can be organically grown now. Also, organic soil improves over the years - just keep adding good nutrients to it, worms maybe. Your veggies are going to love it!
