I'm experimenting with Red Noodle beans this year. Next year, I'll either grow Gold Rush, or go back to Blue Lake. Four foot of cattle pannel space is all that is needed to grow as many pole beans as I need. Once Pole Beans start producing, they produce until fall. Some of my slicer tomatoes are starting to blush, so tomatoes any day. Now I'll have tomatoes to go with my cucumbers. I'm having to eat three each day to keep up with them, and production is increasing.

Love this video! I was thinking, as you were talking about the succession planting that I need to be more mindful about my succession planting. And then I thought ‘I wonder if she has a template or a pattern we can follow?’’ And then you seemed to answer my question by showing the raised bed garden book, which I actually have! I guess I forgot that inside is the pattern! I have a scarlet runner bean plant right now growing on each side of my trellis that I put up this past spring.

Yes Girl, and almost one hundred dollars later … I gotta lotta good gardening stuff a’comin’ - the May box, your bean collection, Mac on a magnet, and a few other goodies! I rescued/adopted a six-month-old German Shepherd pup in February and all my “spare” money (haha, yeah, spare -right?) has been going to her stuff (a new pet is like a new baby - they need a lotta stuff!) … but it’s June, and my birthday is coming in a few days (my pup’s too, ‘cause I pronounced that she was born June 10th, 2023) and I decided to treat me to your top quality CaliKim garden goodies. I’m anxiously waiting for my CaliKim garden goody box to arrive! Thanks Kim, Jerry, Mac, and the entire CaliKim crew for the awesome work y’all do!🤠🐕 From June & Sophie

Hi akim. I agree with needing space for runner beans, but if you only have a balcony, only grow about two in 50 liter pot. I've done this a few times and wow, great Scarlett runner beans. Nice video.

I hate getting powdery mildew i cant get rid of it when i grow zucchini or squash
@CaliKim29
@CaliKim29 7 ай бұрын
Powdery mildew is a nuisance, for sure. Somethings to try - Plant Resistant Varieties -read seed package lables. Optimize spacing and sunlight. Water at the base of the plant, not overhead watering. Apply organic mulch. Remove now the infected parts, use organic fungicides, ie. Neem oil. Last, improve the air circulation around your plants and rotate your crops each year to reduce powdery mildew spore in the soil. What do you think? Are you up for it? I think you can do it! CaliKim

Hi may question which beans test like black eye beans I love the test I live in zone 4 and black eye beans like more hot wither 2nd q is the scarlet runner beans tolerates cold ? And any other beans test like scarlet runner beans Thanks Najah
@CaliKim29
@CaliKim29 4 ай бұрын
Black-eyed peas do prefer warmer weather, but if you're in zone 4, you might have success with other beans that have a similar flavor. Cowpeas, like black-eyed peas, may not thrive in cooler temperatures, but Navy beans and Great Northern beans have a mild, earthy taste that could be a good substitute for black-eyed peas in your region. Scarlet runner beans are a bit more cold-tolerant than many other beans, and they can handle some light frost once established. They thrive in cooler climates, making them a great option for zone 4. As for flavor, Royal Burgundy and Kentucky Wonder beans have a rich taste similar to scarlet runners and may also do well in cooler conditions. If you are finding my channel helpful - do subscribe and the thumbs up the videos that you watch! That would be appreciated!!! Keep me posted - CK

Thank you Kelly! I love your videos. Sunflowers are very invasive n multiply like weeds the following year. How do you keep them In check?
@CaliKim29
@CaliKim29 7 ай бұрын
Select a non-invasive variety (if not too late). Try physical barriers - beds, root barriers, edging, etc. Maintenance - deadheading, pruning and weeding. Mulching - thick layer. Pick a good manageable spot. Companion planting-ground cover-dense growing crops. Monitor and remove - Keep a close watch and remove any new plants that pop up immediately. Hope this helps! CALIKIM

My bean's which I got from you haven't grown. I've planted 3 bean's at a time 3 time's. Could they be bad?
@CaliKim29
@CaliKim29 7 ай бұрын
Hi Esther, beans germinate best in 70-80 degrees. If it's too cold, they won't germinate, are very slow to germinate, and to grow. If they are planted in soil that is too wet from excessive rain or overwatering, they could have possibly rotted in the soil and not germinated. However, we do stand behind our products and pride ourselves on our customer service, please email me at calikim@calikimgardenandhome and I"ll be happy to send out new bean seeds to you! Thanks for watching!

Cool points are awarded for the smooth camera skills as you made an exit though. I get it. I would have dropped the camera. Sometimes the hummingbirds startle me when they come close and i don't see them first. I am thinking it is a huge bee, so I jump and scare it too. I planted a few scarlet runners for the first-time last year, but I didn't eat them. I thought they may not taste good because the pods look very textured. I will give them a try this time around.
