The “F”, for fraction, is pretty handy when you are measuring things that come in fractions. (Drill bits, nuts, bolts, etc.)

Good job Ape. The inexpensive version (I have one from Harbor F) is amazingly accurate for the price and fills the need for 99% of us who are not professional machinists.

Great video, I prefer the metal calipers with the wheel myself.

I store to silica packs in sealed bags, and when needed I can throw a few in computer on tablet carriers. Plus I use a few in the cases I store radio or electronic gear.

Thanks for the tip, I might have to try that out myself!

Digital Calipers are great to have in your toolbox. Recommend metal ones, not plastic or composite. The tips last longer and don’t flex.
@TheSmokinApe2 күн бұрын
Yeah, I'd agree metal is better.

@ are you going to demonstrate the Vernier style? I grew up on those. Like using a slide rule got to have eyes.

I stopped using any that required batteries. Dillion had a good price on my go to pair of dial calipers. A daily driver tool in my shop.

My calipers are from Dillon Precision and have been in use almost 30 years. I cannot imagine using plastic calipers.

the little screwdriver simply opens the battery compartment. p.s. should you have a UNheated garage... the battery will be discharged each time you need it 😢 in my case: every 8 months for car repairs, so I got a simple (battery free) version
@TheSmokinApeКүн бұрын
It wi be in a semi heated ham shack 😮

If you need instructions on how to use calipers, you should not be using them!

@@larryd1296 this is quite a turn of events, usually the peanut gallery is telling folks to read the manual 🤷
