I remember when Smithsonian magazine did a story on this when Sir Henry Harpur-Crewe turned this over to the National Trust. I’ve always wanted to tour this property. Thank you!

@jefflawrentz1624 Hi Jeff! It is a remarkable survivor, and a fascinating place to visit! In my early 20s ( Neil ) I knew Sir Henry and had many chats with him... he used to drive a little black peugot convertible and would stop outside our house which was very close to his summer home in Derbyshire, he loved to talk about our garden... he was a reclusive sort but seemed at ease one to one... Calke is an amazing survivor it is a miracle it wasn't demolished in the 1930s ... Thanks for watching... Best wishes to you from us both 😀

@jamesallison4875 Hi James! 100% I'm pretty sure if ghosts do exist they're living happily here! It's a real time capsule totally untouched since the 1920s! It must have been a very grand place in its heyday! All good wishes 😊

Good evening Neil and Ant loving the Christmas jokes 😃 thanks for braving the weather to bring this to us. The decorations are very inkeeping with the feel of the house. The dining room was wonderful. The tunnels are great at Calke they really are great lit up. Thank you for braving it they can feel closed in but worth it to see them decorated. @inbetween-days Hi Dave and Dawn! Thanks so much! The cracker jokes are my forte lol 😆 It was so windy we were pleased it hadn't closed... Walking through the Tunnels was a real triumph for me but I think the festive lights made them feel much less oppressive! Calke is an amazing time capsule and it is lovely they've done a Christmas overlay... hopefully it will grow for next year! Hope your weekend has been nice and not spoilt too much by the awful weather ... Best wishes from us both 😀

Thank you guys. I like this home. Here in New Zealand we have nothing as historical as these places. I like how the tunnels were decorated, very effective i thought. That dining table looked inviting , it was ready for a xmas feast to be laid on it. Well thanks again from Carl.

Thanks for that interesting tour. Nothing unstately about Calke Abbey. Very appropriate Christmas decorations- nothing too glitzy. The tunnels look wonderful with the Christmas lighting.
