Actually, you can get United Offensive with CoD if you buy the Deluxe Box Set. I just got it off Amazon for twenty US dollars. Also has the soundtrack, if that matters.

Mashroor Parvez I can only recommend the pc version as it's the only one I've played. The game is, even now, kinda glitchy but it''s fun enough that I can recommend it wholeheartedly just don't expect the best / most polished shooter and I'd say you'll probably have a good time.

This and UO were the best. Both SP and MP were great. I thought 2 was a bit meh, because many great elements from UO were missing, and 4 just pushed it into a different direction, which wasnt really satisfying to me either. 5 had a nice campaign, but for me, the avalanche of cashcow mediocrity began after that

I lived the Big Red One. Call of Duty went to shit after WaW. That was the last great Call of Duty, then MW2 came out & made the same game to milk the franchise & turn it into Fish.

I remember thinking this game was a massive improvement over MOH, and the fact that you actually used the sighs blew my mind, the graphics also looked way better to me. Maybe I'm just looking at it through rose colored glasses, but I loved this game.

Almost 15 years from release and I still return to it. Teammates are fantastic on Veteran difficulty, as they provide a nice distraction for the germans to shoot. And Veteran really means it, as there is a fixed health bar which makes the game all the more challenging, along with NO HEALTHPACKS and enemies having usually pinpoint accuracy (I was once not even really sticking out from cover and yet I got shot up by a soldier with MP40, three shots, three hits, reload game). It really gives a nice challenge and it teaches you in the art of compulsive saving every minute

Cod and the UO stand alone were awesome fun, even had our own server up for a time. and made great lan party. Pretty sure some of the CoD story was also mirroring off of Band of Brothers, and the battles portrayed in the series. And

Replayed the game this week-end and I have to say that the part of the game I remembered the best was the Soviet campaign. It's definitely the most interesting. The American and British campaigns aren't bad, they're just not very memorable. The only bits I remembered before replaying it were the American mission where you run around trenches blowing up artillery and the British mission where you're chased around in a truck and ultimately have to shoot down Stukas at an airfield. Really, it feels a lot like an evolution of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. It's more even in its difficulty and the levels seem more balanced. It also has iron sights, which I guess is a big deal for people that are only used to modern shooters. No regenerating health though... :) You still have to manage your health (and your health pick-ups).

I remember when MoH released the same thing year after year after year, then CoD came along and revitalized the FPS genre and showed MoH what it was all about... Then it became the replacement for MoH releasing the same thing year after year after year. I stopped being interested in the CoD games after I played CoD 2. I tried a few of the modern ones here and there, and wow it was really sad to see what happened to the franchise.

I finally got around to trying this on my 360 w/ the "Classic" version. I'm told it is an inferior version, but I still have to say I was very much impressed by it. Lately I've been catching up on some of the CODs I never got around to. I would strongly recommend Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. They won't change your life, but are very much in the vein of this installment, and I found them to be very enjoyable.

Remember when you could use ^2 and others to include colour in your name. Jesus. Just so good. I think United Offensive is actually a little better than the base game.More weapons,epic missions like bloving up "Navarone's Guns",the Battle of Kursk or Foy,bombing german targets over the Netherlands only to get shot down and then have to work with the resistance on foot.It's definetely a hard game,especially by todays standards,but it's fun.

Great game but a pain in the fucking ass on the hardest difficulty. Glad they changed the health system in later games. Getting a bad save where you have half health at checkpoints can be really hard to get thru.

Hidden & Dangerous 2 was a WWII themed FPS released before Call of Duty and it featured 3D iron sights. Also some mods for other games featured them as well. There was a tactical shooter mod for Half Life that I think featured 3D iron sights released around 2001 and also Red Orchestra for UT2003 featured 3D iron sights.

UO was well worth it because of the changes and additions to the mp. Unfortunately, it is pretty dead now, especially considering how awesome and popular was it 10 years ago when I played it. All you find is bot servers. Even since then I could not find anything close to this or CoD2 mp.

You can run steam version of United Offensive without the need of files from the original CD - you simply have to change the language version by right clicking the game in steam library going to language tab and selecting Italian - the game will run fine in English - so it seems only Italians got screwed ;)

i dont know what game you played but this was amazing 03. now game action flowed like this one with as many set pieces. UO was large enough campaign and did not require CoD installed to play making its own game. more of the same. like going to eat mcdonalds. Only if you played veteran you could complain about the difficulty but any of the other 3 game modes had way too much health sprinkled in every level.
