One of my high school students was playing this theme on his trumpet and I started singing the words that I knew with it. I said it was a hymn from my church. He was shocked. The music was written by Thomas John Williams in 1890.... yes, you are reading right, 1890. "Once to Every Man and Nation" text was written as a poem by James R. Lowell in 1845 to protest America's war with Mexico. This particular video's version is a beautiful orchestration of music from 1890. Thanks for posting it.

Thank you for this comment. I played this game as a kid and loved this song, then when I went to the American Cemetery at Omaha beach I heard the song playing on the bells in the main monument and have been trying to figure out what the actual song was forever.

However, the tune was written in 1829 with the original name of Holy Manna. It was written by William Moore. The tune is used in many Christian hymns and also happened to be used in COD because of its strong and mighty tune.

The Russian effort of World War II must never be undermined.

Red Army troops were forced to charge German battle lines. They lost a lot of troops during the charge and if troops turned back, they were mowed down by their own machine guns

@Crusnik2000 Certainly it was a mistake from the get go, but I might argue that under certain conditions the Nazis may have just barely pulled off a successful invasion. We must keep in mind that the only power the the Russians ever held was in the west with Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Stalingrad, and Moscow. The east is a desert of snow. Had someone like Rommel been leading Barbarossa with a blank check and unlimited control, it could have been done I think.
