I think he meant German outfits but yes technically you are correct. The Schutzstaffel aka SS were a paramilitary organization that worked as Hitler's bodyguards. The Wehrmacht were basically the armed forces of Germany.

Neither of you guys are correct... First off, that is not a sergeant's uniform; it is either a lieutenant or a captain's. Secondly, the developers f*cked over the German uniforms (I believe on purpose, to annoy "Neo-Nazis" like me, aka people who are interested in history). The uniform seen, has Army (Heer) collar tabs and an Army Chest Eagle - despite the fact that he also has the SS Sleeve Eagle on his left arm. To put it simple: if Army the eagle is on the right chest, and if SS the eagle is on the arm. Never together. This uniform also had red piping for some odd reason (on shoulder boards and visor cap), which means he's part of the Artillery. That is weird, because most soldiers were Infantry (white piping, instead of red) and they would be more likely to fight on the very front, unlike Artillery troops which are "safe" a few kilometers behind the lines. And to end it off; an officer would never fight in this outfit, either way. This is much more of a formal uniform rather than a field one...

Could I still unlock the outfits/ Headgear after the event ends?

It's more difficult but yes you can. After the event you still get some supply drops that contain event items such as gear from the winter event. The only outfits you can't get after the event ends are the collection rewards.
