Both Maria and Giulietta always respected each other as singers and kept a healthy and fair competition. Probably they are the best of all time in their respective ranges.

Fortunately l could hear them together wirth Mario del Mónaco at their debut in México City At The Palace of Fine Arts. What a Night. An standing ovation and outstanding. occassion.. Giuletta Simionatto a great, singer, one of my favorites.

I don't like the character of Aida in general, but Callas brings a strength and sympathy to the character that I haven't heard in others. Price's Aida is very beautiful, but I don't see it on par with Callas.

For me, the only duet slightly better is the Callas - Dominguez... but this is great!!!

Callas is stunning.. vocally here.....the power is off the scale!!!!....But equally......Amneris is subsumed accordingly, in a duet where she is supposed to be dominant.....despite Simionato's classic interpretation.........The way Callas, holds back and sings to Barbieri's consequent much more superior princess, in the 1955 studio recording, is much more believable and dramatically satisfying....... The Diva's understanding of every role she sang, grew with every interpretation.....THIS is what makes her, in my humble opinion, the GREATEST exponent of the operatic art........No-one before or since has done it quite like CALLAS!!.........Just an opinion......xx

Simionato "subsumed"? What do you mean? Listen to 8:15 and just after. And in my opinion, Barbieri is pale in comparison to Simionato, in every role, especially Eboli.
