Hi Rick, I recently purchased the Epic Driver. I was debating to get the 10.5 or the 13.5. I am 69 years old and have an 80 to 85 swing speed and suffer from a slice. I found your video with Rob reviewing the TaylorMade Slider 16. degree and decided to bring that into the equation. I ended getting the Epic Driver 13.5 A flex . I adjusted it to +2 , N, and full draw on the club head. I can only say that my drives have improved considerably. I am in the fairway and have added about 20 yards to my drives. Thank you so much for what you do. Lofting up for me is a winner.

I hit the sub zero and loved it. Having said that I bought the M2. The reason being because I found the Callaway to be a touch more punishing if I didn't get it out of the middle. My best shots went a touch further with epic but my "not hit well" shots were worse than M2 so I went with the one that felt a bit more accommodating on the days when I've not brought my A game. All super clubs though!

Callaway Rogue irons and now that driver with it`s 3 wood mate. All I need now is a a couple of wedges and I`m set to break 150... LOL Love your channel as it explains what`s for you and what`s for us mere mortals in the golfing world. (Hookers, Slicers. Duffers and Shankers). We thank you Rick.

Interesting to see and hear comments about everyone being longer with Epic. I had a fitting with Callaway this week and they couldn't beat my current driver (TM Aeroburner TP) or my 4 wood (Callaway x2 hot). Both of those where fitted and it just shows the importance of a good fitting, it will ensure best performance and it will save you a lot of money in the long run. I just purchased this driver and kept the same shaft out of my GBB (previous model) black Kuro Kage stiff as it gave me good numbers on the simulator. I have just taken it out on course and I'm easily 10-20m further. My side spin numbers are in the low 100's and even when I miss hit it the results are ridiculous. Unless I do an absolutely awful swing my miss hit still go straight and good distance. I do think this club is well worth a look.

The way you hit the ball I honestly don't know why you aren't off 8. I have put the epic in the bag this year it is simply amazing. Love it put at least 25 yards on my drives.

Lee Dawson he doesn't have anybody in that range
@LesPaulBJJ7 жыл бұрын
The problem with this approach is that the higher you go with the handicap, the more reasons there could be for the high handicap. I've met 25hcpers that strike the ball brilliantly with high swing speeds, but their short game is pathetic. I've met low-teen to single digit hcpers that are rubbish off the tee and with their long irons, but their short game is inexplicably Tour-level.
@paulbrunt52517 жыл бұрын
Handicap means nothing in testing, because it's all about strike. Rob gives enough of an alternative to Rick as you saw he struck it in 3 different places and we were able to see how it performed each time. Get out there and test it....
@leedawson75127 жыл бұрын
It was just a question to Rick that was all no need for the meltdowns. Not everyone can get out there with all the new drivers as they hit the market it would have just been nice to see. As they said Rob is aiming for single figures maybe he is looking for a driver that might help achieve this or just give him a little more off the tee. why can't a high handicapper look for the same. No need for replies to this. Rick thanks again for your content sorry this is on your comment thread.

I tested a Callaway Epic Demo @ the course yesterday. Actual playing conditions. Regular shaft, neutral setting @ 10.5 degree. My swing speed is around 85-90. I did hit it pretty well, not any longer than my Cobra Amp Cell pro. Has a weird feel coming off the face at contact, you never feel you hit it solid. Sounds hollow...... I checked and I was hitting it right in the middle of the face. Personally, I wouldn't pay $500 dollars for it, absolutely no way. My Cobra cost $149 new and hitting maybe one more fairway a round isn't worth $500 dollars.

Great video. The Epic for me was absolute trash. My 2016 M1 beat the living piss out of it - for lack of a better phrase - carried 20 yds farther and much better flight. That being said - the options for fitting weren't what i would call great. Very limited shaft options as far as what they actually do - couldn't find anything that was the optimal launch and torque specs that i wanted/needed. The HZRDUS T800 was great but it's not for everybody for sure.
@reyeschase17 жыл бұрын
How can you say one club beat the piss out of another when you were testing in different specs?
@Chris_the_golf_guy7 жыл бұрын
Because those are the specs they have to test it in and those are what the manufacturer wants to put them out in. Thats' what they say is good. We even tried my current shaft in the new M1 vs the 2016 M1 and the 2016 beat that as well by over 20 yards. I can tell you that the new technology isn't all it's cracked up to be. If it works for you, great. For each player the club is going to work different. That's why the M1 is so good - it has a lot of adjustments to optimize it for the player - the epic has 1 sliding weight or 2 weights that you can move. Not exactly the best adjustments. I suggest using videos like these as only a starting point to see what it COULD do (or not do) and go see for yourself. Don't play products because your favorite pro does, and dont go buy something just because a review says it's good.

Rick and Rob. I really like your testing approach; Rob's current gamer vs tested club. I feel you might want to get Rob to hit more than 3 balls (realise he's testing multiple clubs at once so he could get a little tired). My reason for saying this is an average of 3 shots is not much of an "average". For instance, ball speed for XR was fine except for the 3rd shot which appears to be a poor one, his best drive with epic had significantly different launch characteristics that the epic average. Anyhow, keep up the great work.
@ericjackson10607 жыл бұрын

Great to see the strike locations in this review! This helps to get a grasp in regard of forgiveness and top performance of a club for a given strike. Beside, that this driver seems to be very well suited for Rob, I didn´t see an Epic smash factor on the center strike (min 6:44)... ...1.46 is not really epic for the sweet spot of a driver... ...however, launch and spin are pretty much perfect for Rob, and the true reason, why he smashed it that far in comparison to other drivers. I think one should take care, that the launch angles are always around 13 degree and at least at an 4 degree upwards AoA, to ensure better comparability... ...beside that 10 strikes should be minimum... ...I thought I heard something (some time ago) that you wanted to perform tests with 30 strikes per club, and not 3!?

It looks like the Epic is taller a fraction compared ot the sub0 but cant really tell for sure? As always yous is a very valuable opinion. thanks
