For anyone looking at this video.. I bought a set of these Irons back in 2017, SW to 4I, and am still very happy with them. I find I can get good feedback from the head and shaft, and have no problems with shots that require finesse around the greens, such as using a 7 iron for a bump and run. I also found that on all my good shots, the distance control was excellent. And even on my bad shots, they still had enough forgiveness that the bad shots were not that bad. I like them and will not be getting rid of them anytime soon.

Agreed too many different irons to choose from but then ,rsi,m2,m2 tour,psi,aeroburner hl,.Callaway are not the only culprits. Thanks for the honesty Rick and Rob.

love my steelheads hit them consistently straight and longer then my old Cleveland cg7s. didn't plan on getting them but after trying various clubs these were the best for me. getting custom fit made a huge difference. was never a huge callaway fan but now except for a hybrid I refuse to replace I have a full callaway bag except for 1 hybrid and putter. and have improved my game overall. the results didn't lie in the end despite not aiming to buy callaway irons or woods going in to the fitting I'm now a convert. despite secretly wanting ping g irons and Taylor made woods the callaway options were best for me. Rob love your reviews I can relate to them

While I agree that Callaway has overlapping lines, I am wondering if you are making it more confusing than it is. There are no XR16 irons of any kind. There are the XR and XR Pros released in 2015. The XR OS was released in 2016. The Steelhead XR will be replacing the XR. Come Jan/Feb of 2017, the Steelhead XR Pros will replace the XR Pros. The XR16 was the updated driver/wood/hybrid line from the 2015 release.

I have move from the XR OS to the Steelheads and I love it. The offset is smaller in the Steelheads and help me with my miss to the left.The XR OS offset miss was to the left and far left. It went off the map, but the Steelheads offset works for me. I have played about 10 rounds and have improved my score by 5 or 6 strokes. The distance is not bad at all and is consistent for me. I hit the 7 iron about 165 to 170 on a average with the Steelheads. I say go get fitted and go to the range to know your distance of each club. This is a good club and the lesser offset is a life saver for me. Key words, "For Me"

As always guys, a good honest review. I have just bought a set of these with the stock graphite shaft and so far they have been great, Im a 15 handicapper, its my first year back after 20 years and two knee operations, so I need all the help I can get. The interesting thing is, that a scratch handicap golfer at my club has also just bought a set, but in steel shaft, so in answer to your question, "Who are these for?", well, a wide range, low to high handicap golfers.

Hi Guys, I have the Steelhead xr's 4 to pitch and I love them and they are better looking than any of current range in my opinion
@mancest8 жыл бұрын
Rick/Rob, Callaway currently has 5 sets on the market, some are a bit redundant in my opinion, but not quite as many as you guys list: Apex CF16 Apex Pro XR OS Big Bertha OS Steelhead XR The last 3 really seem to be targeted at the same demographic, and don't have quite the delineation that someone like Titleist has with their 4 iron sets currently available. Love the vids, please keep up the good work.

Had mine since day of release. Love the look and feel and the ball flight I get is insane. I laugh when folks tell me that they wont stop on the green. When you hit a 6iron the height of an 8 the distance of a 5 its going to stop. That plus the throwback looks for someone that loves the old Steelhead is a cant miss.

Hi Rick and Rob! Love your videos and content! Seriously Love your stuff! - I am in the middle of choosing between these Steelhead XR's and the Taylormade RSI 1's. I have tried them at my pro shop with Trackman and have sort of same numbers and feel from both. I will wait until end of february / start march because I will have saved some more money up after an expensive Christmas :-) What would you choose if you were me? And BTW in my shop they are telling me that the XR's are being stopped been produced by callaway and the steelheads are taking over :-) CHEERS for your help and all of you other viewers are more than welcome to come with your view! Love Malte Brask , From Denmark. I am 26 years old and in 2009 I was diagnosed with a big cancer tumor in my lower back which has crushed the among a lot of stuff the nerves to the muscles in the back of my legs so they are dead/paralyszied. I can limp but I canøt walk properly and my legs are therefore very skinny. And my back is killing me because I have been through 3 big surgeries which have took more than 10+ hours each time. So my body isn't suited for golf hahahaha :-) But with all of this and the fact I am always in threatment - also right now with Immunetherapy. So I need these sort of irons - I have the Cobra Fly-Z XL right now but that was becuase they were on such a sale I had to buy them.. And The Nike Vapor Speed in Driver, Fairway wood and Hybrid and I love them! But not the Covra - thay are simply wrong for me so which one of these two CW Steelhead XR and TM RSI 1?? Thanks Malte!

So golfers get upset when there's a ton of releases of club lines by a given manufacturer...but golfers also get upset when a manufacturer consolidates two lines and reduces the number of club lines they release? Golfers are weird. Anyway, forgetting for a moment the XR OS which is on the way out, this puts the Big Bertha OS line in the SGI category, the Steelhead and Apex CF16 in the GI categories at two difference price points, and the Apex Pro 16 in the better player category.

if you create a lot of similar products, you've set more bait in the water - customers will be deciding between two of your products instead of a competitor. Steelhead or Big Bertha, either is a sale for Callaway. Competing against themselves is the angle here.

Whats the point of arguing about why Callaway made theses clubs, I have a set of XR Steelhead like them a lot. Very forgiving . Hit them on the toe they still go. You'll lose about 10 yards but they still fly on target. . why spend $500 more when the XR will do just fine.

I have these irons and I personally feel they’re way to strongly lofted. Who needs a 155 yard pitching wedge?
@BatMan-oe2gh2 жыл бұрын
I have the same Irons, and my PW only goes 100 to 110 yards. I think you are better than the clubs to be honest. If you are hitting the PW 155, that is power plus in your swing. That distance is a 7I for me. So maybe you need less forgiving clubs that you can use better. Sounds like the strong lofts are not for you. Cheers
@scottsliger3606 Жыл бұрын
Getting a cart path roll doesn't count.. Only a few iron models and mostly blades have less loft but at most 2 degrees.

Maybe someone has already mentioned this but these are a replacement for the standard XR irons that were released 18 months or so ago. There was no XR16 or XR16 Pro iron other than the OS. It would probably help people follow along if they would keep the same product name and introduce a series name, but the current line is as follows: Apex CF16 - Replaced Apex Apex Pro 16 - Replaced Apex Pro Steelhead XR - Replaced XR Upcoming Steelhead XR Pro - Will replace XR Pro Fusion - Replaced Big Bertha XR OS - Current

@Hoppy-ee1vt8 жыл бұрын
We all criticise TM but Callaway are just as bad if not worse. Jusus how many drivers and iron sets do they have on the market. I suppose the difference between TM and Callaway is that TM replace with new whizz bang versions while Callaway just think of a new range all together. Just another reason why I'll purchase neither. Nothing worse than being told by your club manufacturer that your 6 month old clubs are now outdated.
