He thought he could get AQ to fold because he wasn’t thinking what hero was thinking of him and his range because he would have concluded that the river was a check back. This was an entitlement ship by the villain just pushing buttons

Yeah, arbitrage betting is hard. Did it while I was taking advantage of bonuses on betting sites to clear the bonuses with profit. But the profit from arbitrage was marginal, and when I took too large arbitrages I was flagged really quick by the sites which often led to restrictions in betting sums and one time my brother lost a few kUSD on a site for ”suspected collusion”. And many sites worked with other sites so flagged on one site you would get it on their partners as well shortly. But the betting industry probably differ from country to country, might work somewhere?

All the online books are limiting winning players as soon as they can identify them. Holding back bonuses, failing to pay (cancelling) parleys that hit, limiting bet sizes to very small amounts, and outright banning. These aren't poker sites where they make money off winning players, so they don't want winning players.

Funny thing is that it's probably better to call AQ than KK/AA because vilain's value range is mostly QQ/QT. Even top pair is sort of a bluff here.

Very interesting line. Challenges me to rethink how I analyze/approach 3b pots oop. Love this discussion. As played i think river needs to be a jam due to the logic behind the line itself. Really really bad jam by villian imo.
@nickmullen402
@nickmullen402 3 ай бұрын
My armchair opinion, as a guy who plays for fun in $0.25/0.50 home games, is that this is a pretty clear bet-bet-bet. If you take hero's line and get to the river, mandatory jam. If you take hero's line and check the river, mandatory call. Villain cannot really expect us to have any type of good hand after we go squeeze super small, check/min raise, bet 1/3, check the river on a card that doesn't improve any hands except a random ten.

Fancy play syndrome by the villain (and probably hero tbh) counting on. hero folding 100% of his his range on river rather than just being content with beating hero's bluffs and trusting them to defend properly with everything else.

I'm not sure I follow the logic of the short circuit. If I'm considering a large bet on any street, I'm basing that decision on the range of hands you have. However, once I've made a bet (or two) and you've called, now your range narrows, and the percentage of hands you have to which I lose grows larger. I'm not suggesting that hero was necessarily right to check the river, but doesn't villain's bet/call x/r on flop, and call on turn tell us that we're now losing to more of villain's hands?

I play very aggressively preflop due to the players in my pool being limp happy. I will check in spots like this OOP to protect my checking range when I miss, and check/raise with sets, top pair, overpairs, and weaker draws. So I have value and bluffs in my check/raising range. I also play with a lot of players that pounce on perceived weakness.

Checking for balance is fine on flop especially if the button is in the hand, but my god this flop is so dry. Why not just bet or check call the flop if you’re going to disguise the hand.
@EllieBanks333

Meh. Strange line by hero. Probably because he was trying to play another style via Squish's video & got lost. But if this river is a jam, and I agree it is, then it also never a fold. I mean, Bart had just discussed consistency in hand logic. I think this was an easy call for hero. I think villain played quite poorly, mostly because I think his river jam is a clear mistake. Seems like he is targeting QJ only, because all other hands will just fold or if they call it is a split or lose. And QJ would be a very strange hand to check-raise the flop with.

Betting pot on the flop and turn is going to leave about a 20% SPR on the river. It's either 3E, or a two street hand where you bet like 1.15x pot on the flop.

If you think that happens often you don’t sports bet. This is why the books keep their lines tight and the difference between dogs and favorites is massive. For example. A -150 fav would never have a +145 dog. It would be +110/115

He isn't shilling you on a sports betting site. He's just telling his community about a risk free side hustle, which is what Arbing and matched betting is. Though I honestly don't know the tax implications in the US. If you dont care for it, that's fine, just skip past it. Bart can advertise what he wants, and I'm pretty certain he'd be picky about who he advertises and would never sell out for a company that could hurt his community like a sports book.
